New cover for Teresa Edgerton's Goblin Moon

To quote from one of your previous posts:

Actually, Daniel Martinez (who was kind enough to pose for us) was holding a pistol very much like that one when we photographed him, but the detail was lost when the photo was darkened into a silhouette and it looked all squiggly.

Leisha redrew the pistol to make it look real again. A case where art looks more like real life than real life does.


Serendipity, I think Gary is referring to the typo where you dropped a certain letter from his name. Although perhaps you know something that the rest of us don't ...
 
Very nice. Better definition and much sharper to the eye. I like the Gary Alignment, it's kind of like the rule of thirds in photography.

I'm just wondering when we will see the Gary and sansGary fonts?:D
 
Really good cover. :)

I'm very picky about images and the Gary Alignment** is fine by me, as are the changes to the Moon, the man and the font. (Does the font have a name or is it a Leisha, or Gary, special?)

One thing that did catch my eye -- because, as I've just mentioned, I'm very picky about (other people's) images -- was the name of the series. I wonder if some people will think that Goblin Moon is name of the longer work and this book is the specific volume (with the name, Mask and Dagger, in spite of the lack of a dagger in the image). I wouldn't want to change the layout -- it looks just right -- but perhaps a small "Vol.1" could be added***.


** - Although the image of a book cover looks, on here, as if everything ought to have some sort of centre-based symmetry, the book itself is not symmetrical (as there's only one spine, on only one side).

*** - Please bear in mind that I could be talking complete nonsense about the title, so feel free to ignore me. :)

Ursa, I think you are right. The old cover said "Book One Mask and Dagger", but "Mask and Dagger I" would suffice and not unbalance the cover design I think -- and a "II" on the following volume, of course -- so that once both books are out readers won't be confused about which story to read first.
 
Book 1 and book 2 is so last year and boring. :cool:

We'll have to think of something original to differentiate them, if we can't think of anything then we'll call them "Book 1" and "Book 2"

First thing that springs to mind is "A Mask and Dagger Book"

Second thing is "Mask and Dagger Series"

Gary, perhaps that would be the best way. Your call. Less intrusive that way, but makes clear which is which. Of course, it would have to be in a different fond, cos that font has a horrendous I that looks like a 1.

And, Ursa, yes. I could tell you the name of the font - it's free out there to find - but I'd have to silence you. ;)

Wait! Yes we do. These are old-fashioned adventure novels. So last year? They're so two-and-a-half centuries ago.

Roman numerals is what we need. Think how easy. They'll only require one or two key strokes, and Heaven knows we've worked Leisha hard enough as it is.

Since the days are long past when all schoolboys were expected to learn Latin, that might be carrying it a bit too far.

And Leisha, I have faith that you'll find a font with an attractive I that blends well with the font you're already using. (I've had to do that same sort of thing when labeling my son's bottles of mead. No, you don't want to ask. It's a long and boring story.)

But yeah, I've got TONS of fonts, so it wouldn't be hard to find a nice one. I always take my time going through them all and seeing which fits best. :)


Your son's selling homemade mead? :D I've never had mead! Always wanted to, since it seems such a fantasy thing to do.
 
He makes it, but he doesn't sell it. He drinks it or gives it away. But you should try it sometime. He makes it plain, but also with different herbs, spices, and fruits (which technically makes it metheglin if he uses the herbs and/or spices, or melomel with the fruit).
