I really enjoyed all three series, and I'm curious as to which one you folks enjoyed the most. The best, for me, boiled down between Liveship Traders and Tawny Man. But in the end my vote went to Liveship because I didn't really expect much about a series devoted to ships. I thoroughly enjoyed each one of those books and never felt a dull moment in them. Conversely, I felt Tawny Man dragged at times, although the ending was fantastic.

This is a tough question, Neon. I don't think I can really compare the three. I loved the Assassin books because they were intriguing and exciting, and I remember with great fondness how Fitz completely won me over from the start.

The Liveship Traders books were great because- well, how many fantasy books have ships and seafaring woven that thickly into the plot?

The Tawny Man series was probably the most emotionally spellbinding series I have ever read. It still makes me feel incredibly sad to remember how... well, those of you who have read it will know what I was about to say, but I don't want to spoil it.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is that I love them all!:)

And dammit I agree! All of them were so engaging and entertaining, and the characters so agreeable *sighs*

I loved all of them, too, but if I have to choose, I'll go for the Farseer one. I really enjoyed how Fitz met Nighteyes and the developpement of their relationship. And the friendship with the Fool when they were young. I loved also Burrich, Chade and Verity. Even if Fitz didn't realize at that age, they tried to help him as much as they could.

Has to be The Tawny Man for me, I thought Hobb had improved her writing by this series and is was so well done :D

I'm still trying to find time to finish Ship of Destiny, but so far I feel the Tawny Man was the best. Having read the Farseer and Tawny Man before starting Liveshps may have made Liveships a bit less interesting, but as previously stated the sailing theme does make it enjoyable by itself. I give the nod to Tawny Man b/c it has the characters you already love from Farseer and continues their development/growth. Fitz (who I already empathised with) becomes an even more dimensioned character, and the Fool explodes with fully realized potential. All in all, the Tawny Man fulfills the promise that the Farseer begins very well indeed.

**SPOILER INFO**

I have to agree 100%
Really wasnt that hard to decide for me...
I didnt like the guy that took over the ship... That guy really pissed me off...
The Tawny man series was good, but the farseer was excellent... Fitz as a kid... Nighteyes... Verity... Burrich kicking the crap out of the teacher at the witness stones... Fitz really lead a rough life... The reason why I didnt like the Tawny man series more is because they disrupted his peaceful life... I couldn't tell you how happy I was when Fitz walked away from it all, only to get dragged back in... I hated the fool and Chade for dragging Fitz back... He sacrificed so much....

Hehe. I corrupted my collegue at work with the Farseer and the Tawny man. It's her turn to stay late and cannot get away from those books.:D

I liked them all and didn't want them to end! I liked Liveship Traders the best because it had the most closure for me, but that was because of the happenings of the Tawny Man series. Hope this makes sense.

I think The Farseer Trilogy was her best work, if gauging the whole series, however I think some of Hobb's best work is in Liveship.

A lot of fans have too much Fitz love iMHO, and compeltely discount Liveship.

I agree, I read all the books in their order.. all nine; I still feel that the best book of the nine was the last book in the Tawny Man, yet, the best of the 3 series, and my personal fav, being Liveship Traders.

Gees, what a question! I loved both Farseer and Tawny. Farseer set up the story and the characters, Tawny then had room to move and explored the relationship between fitz and the fool in more depth, which was for me prehaps the most enjoyable, attention holding and important aspect of the plot.
Because of this Ill vote Tawny, though all 3 series had their own points.

I won't say no to another story with the same characters. Robin Hobb could explore the past of the Fool and his race. This should be really interesting. :)

well, i voted Tawny Man, just for the reason that Liveships took me a couple of chapters to really get into the book, however as soon as i opened Fool's Errand, i was straight back into those sets of characters.
This however is possibly just because i had just finished the farseer trilogy, and really felt like i got to know Fitz(is that stupid?) and i just got straight back into books about him.

I voted Liveship as I found them really interesting and the idea that it was all based on ships was just so new and so interesting, I was hooked immediately! I do love Farseer and Tawny Man but it was the differences in Liveships that made me pick it, very fresh and the sailor characters were loveable rogues!

I also loved loved loved Paragon!

Although, if I could have I would have picked all three!

xx

farseer. couldn't STAND liveships for all teh whiney, self centred women and irratatingly boring men (except paragon and the pirate dude) and annoying serpants. urgh!
didn't like tawny man for the death of nighteyes/the end of it with allt eh marriages

so i stick with farseer. didn't like starling much, but i did like the plot, the character development, the ending. ok not as much fool as tawny man, and he is my favourite, but i felt it was more complete, had a better ending, was more creative. tawny man, i didn't like the ending. the whole crown thing was a total let down, and as i said, didn't like liveships at all! and i found farseer far more imagintive with its ideas, its settings, everything that went on. it was far more interesting.

Yuk, what a question. lol. I loved the farseer trilogy because of the emotions i experienced whilst reading them, but i have to opt for the liveship trilogy as my favourite. I really liked the plot of the series and enjoyed learning about all of the characters as the story progressed. I also loved the way that all of the stories knitted together at the end of the third book, allowing me to put the book down satisfied that there were no loose ends still outstanding.
