I loved the Farseer Trilogy, but I was surprised at how much more I ended up liking the Tawny Man series. It seemed as if nothing happened at parts, but it still mattered so much to me. I also loved the dynamic between Fitz and the Fool. I don't know how many writers could have pulled off such a relationship and made it work on such a human level.

I agree, it mattered because of the friendship between Fitz and the Fool. When I read the Tawny Man Trilogy, it seems like I'm meeting up with old friends again and since we watched Fitz grow and endured everything Fitz and the Fool went through, it somehow builds a bond with the character and its readers. =] I've finished all of the 9 books and am constantly missing them.

Nice Pic Kitera. Looks like I me...if I was an angel...and was a girl. lol. Seriously, though. I haven't read the Liveship Traders, but I just bought the first one in the series. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm sure you will enjoy the Liveship Traders as much as the others. It's really entertaining and action packe. But in the first book it kind of had a slow start due to the introductions of all the characters. But Its one of the best trilogies I've read.

*Laughs* Thanksm I like my avatar too. Hmm you can introduce yourself in the introduction forum, just so everyone can give you a warm welcome. =]

And... Welcome to Chronicles!

I enjoyed the Farseer trilogy very much, and once I picked the books up I found them very hard to put down. The Tawny Man series comes a close second. I would love to read more adventures with Fitz and The Fool.

I liked the Farseer and the Liveship trilogies the most, maybe because i'm young myself.
I don't like that coming back to a "dead" world thing that the Tawny man is about. It's not that i hadn't enjoyed those, but it's lost that kind of magic that the others had. We knew too much about the world, the Fool and Chade... I wanted themto stay mysterious.

Tough question, but I have to say it's the Tawny Man trilogy. It was, for me, the most emotionally rending. I genuinely knew and empathized with the characters to such an extent that my heart broke at each new development in that series. That requires a very talented writer.

what about soldier son? Is that not a series by Robin Hobb?

It is, but I think this is more a discussion on completed series' rather than works still in progress.

My favourite out of the three is probably Liveship Traders, which surprised me by being much better than I had expected when I first picked it up.

It's easily the Farseer Trilogy for me. The series wrenched at my gut to the point where it felt like what was happening to Fitz was happening to me. I can still remember a few of the scenes vividly in my mind - Burrich beating up Fitz's teacher at the Stones, Fitz seeing Burrich make love to Molly, Verity sitting in his chair, exhausted from Skilling. - and of course, Fitz's relationship with Nighteyes.

I assume this thread is concerned with the wold in which Farseer, Liveship Traders and Tawny Man are set. Although it'd be very interesting once Soldier Son is finished to see a poll of all four..... My wager is that not many people would vote Soldier Son over the other three.... am I wrong there? :D

I don't think I could choose between these three series to be perfectly honest!!! I loved each one the most as I was reading them!!!

I chose the Farseer Trilogy, becasue that was the one that started it all off, I was hooked within the first page and not many books do that for me! ;)
