DISCUSSION -- April 2014 75+5 Word Writing Challenge

criminy, by the time i get to my computer this morning there's already two pages of discussion and 4 entries...

well, 3 entries... (whispers to DEO: edit edit edit!)

now i just need to get my head around the genre...

What time do you people get up at? I've only had my first coffee and already there are three posts up. Crikey....

Stupid frozen internet...mods, please delete the first version of my story...internet froze, and I thought it hadn't posted...second post is the one I wanted to keep...

Grrrr...Stupid internet...

Done.

To avoid confusion, I could delete for DEO since his second entry was well within the time for editing the first, so DEO could (had his internet been working properly) have simply edited the first one to make it read as he wanted. Had the time between the two versions been longer than the one hour editing window, we'd have had to think about it and I can't guarantee we'd have allowed the second one in those circumstance. (The moral of this explanation is -- make your amendments before attempting to post, not after, just in case the internet buggers up.)

Thank you, Your Honour. It was my intention to edit it into the second version on the screen (since I realised "thief" is shorter than "elf thief", etc.)...and then I broke the internet...Luckily I didn't break it for an hour...

Cool choice Starbeast. I know very little about the genre, but then we wouldn't call it a challenge if it was easy! :)

Off to Wikipedia I go!!! :D

I've written a couple of bits, but nothing is really working. Will give it a few days and see. On the other hand, I've got my 300 ready for polishing, so a pretty good day, all in all.

Later: oops, decided to post today, after all. I apologize in advance for my entry! :D
(Bowler, I managed to include a discreet ray gun for you. Don't zap me!)

Nice choices of theme & genre there Starbeast! Oooh yes.....!

I understand steampunk. I understand fantasy.

I'm just having a bit of trouble groking the juxtaposition.

Thanks for the input. I'm sure I'll manage to figure out how to cope with it.
};-}

Or not; but I guess that'll be my own problem. Heheheeheh.

If it makes you feel better Alex, I'm challenging myself too. I find it better to take my time, and let it all fall into place. Because every time I rush, I think of something else.

Two ideas are planted in the back of my mind, but they need the proper machining to get them going. Like Da Vinci designing a vechile without an engine.

think tinkerbell in a tool belt. that ought to get you close

Wow, that's a cool idea Hopewrites. Disney Steampunk. I love it.

...adds Starbeast to the list of people never to vote for, in self-defense... :D

Heh heh. I love your sense of humor, Zebra.

Um, I was about to post here, until I found my comment was rapidly evolving into a story...

Awesome Overlord. I need time to fiddle with the cogs and gears of my ideas. (BZZZT crackle spudder) Hmm, I shouldn't have touched that lever.

Thanks Remedy. I was craving a "Steampunk" challenge.

Well, since I started at 196 words, I was very grateful for the extra five. ;)

Five extra words, was a nice surprise for me too, Springs (sounds like a good steampunk name). I know I'll put them to good use.

Zoiks! You're a fast one too, Juliana.

I'm dying to read the stories posted already, but I must resist. I don't want to be influenced by someone else's bright idea.

Thank you Stormcrow. I'm giving myself a challenge too. I had no story before I decided what I wanted. It me a lttle while to narrow down my choices, but, presto.

Some cool looking new avatars around here.

Well, back to the lab.
