DISCUSSION -- June 2014 75 Word Writing Challenge

This is a surprise Alchemist.

Deception/Historical Fiction

Hmm, no science fiction or fantasy. Got it.

Now, all I have to do is pick something that happened in history, then add fiction and deception to it.

Seems...uh...hmm....

I'm sure I'll thnk of something.

Que Karn's post in 20min

I have so many ideas whirring in my head I cant see a single one of them. I'll have to wait for them to roost before I can find a good one.
;) Good Choice. Nice and Challenging.

"what in the world could that be?"
"what!? Where? I don't see anything"
"huh, well never mind."
"What's so funny?"
"I'll tell you in a minuet. First lets drink. Me from my glass, and you from yours."
... :D

Wow, really interesting choices, Alc! This will be fun...challenging, but fun!

And I see there are already 3 really good stories in! I was reading them with envy, and thinking, 'Okay, this is a contender, and this is a contender...'

I have a feeling this will really open the floodgates of imagination for the Challenge...and I'm thinking as Hope is...soo many possibilities! I think I may be a long while getting a story in this month!

Congrats again for last month's victory, Alc!! :)

I have absolutely no experience with historical fiction, so, I think I will be out of this one.

"Fie, Sir Karn," she cried, throwing her fan to the table, scattering the Quadrille cards.

What I'm wondering about is how close "traditional" fantasy settings are to historical fiction, with the swords and the heraldry and all. No dragons, I suppose.

Wikipedia has the usefully vague definition: "Historical fiction is a literary genre in which the action takes place in the past", so it seems to me a fairly open kind of genre.

(thankfully).

I likes it, alc. I likes it a lot.

Loved the three stories already posted. Needed to read Anya's twice before I got it (clever!), Ashelyne's was fabulously evil and Jon's made me shudder and then laugh. Beautiful.

At the end I will expand on this little grim part of my town's history and you can be like all the kids I used to escort round the castle on tours and go urgggghhhh. :D

Nice entries, everyone. Gonna be a fun month. :)

...not pursued by a bear. (Not at this stage, not with murder-holefood on the menu.)

I'd really like Springs to explain where the "the" in "the Bruce" comes from. If that won't offend your sensibilities, Hex.

How kind of you to inquire. I think I can cope (or I will have developed the mental strength to cope by the end of the month).
