Remedy - Even though I'm one of the rare few who doesn't like the story of Peter Pan, I found this tale as an outstanding piece of work. Sorry to those who loved the original story, but, I love this version. Truthfully, I was shocked at first, but it grew on me quickly.

Thank you SB! Very kind.

I quickly threw it together while on holiday in Scotland. I instantly regretted going for the shock factor, but it was the only idea I had :)

Edit: Thank you, Springs, for the shortlist. I did a real-life smiley! :D

+ Victoria too, thank you for the review. I'm all over the shop today...

Parson - Our faithful Parson dazzles us readers with a mighty tale of interest, then rewards us with a grand humourous ending. Whimsically written with wonderful wordage wowing us weaders, I mean readers.

I'm so still smiling seriously!

Telford: Thanks for including me in your long short list. I'm most pleased to be there.

Wow, thanks Starbeast :)

You're welcome David Evil Overlord.

Awesome, Beast. Thanks!

You're quite welcome Alex. I'm glad you could join us.

Thanks for the review, SB. :)

You're welcome Karn Maeshalanadae.

I dang just missed the deadline for submission - rookie mistake, thought the deadline was next Sunday so logged on this morning to submit my entry. Dammit!

The Big Bad Stinger

Firstly, nice to meet you. And second, I know how you feel, I missed a few myself. However, I'd like to lift your spirits and say that you did create a very fine story, with a cool ending. Hope to see you next month.

Thanks for the kind review, Starbeast.

Lot's of top stories this month. My favourites were from Mr Orange, alchemist, Culhwch, Talysia, Perpetual Man, StilLearning, and The Judge. Could have done with three or so votes, but my single vote went to Talysia for a cleverly fractured tale.

You're welcome Glen. I agree, there are so many great tales to choose from. I'll use my day off to reread them all and try to present a Short List, hopefully under forty.

Here we go again. I didn't have the heart to cut any more, so on with the show.
Honorables: Talysia - Victoria - Teresa - Mr Orange - Alc - Karn - Mosaix - A fare wells - Culhwch - Beasty - Bowler - HB - Johnny Jet - Perp - Martin - Parson. Phyrebrat, oh sooo close but I'm afraid you'll have to settle for the silver medal. The gold medal goes to TJ who snuck her very clever entry in at the post. Nicely done Your Honor.

Thanks for the mention Telford, you made my morning. Even though I'm finally getting rid of another bad cold, it's good writing weather today, rainy and cold.

Thanks for the mini-review. :) Oh, and 'mind-blowing'. :D

My pleasure Ursa Major. You got me thinking about watching the movie Scanners again. I haven't seen it in quite a while, but I remember it well.

Thank you SB! Very kind.

I quickly threw it together while on holiday in Scotland. I instantly regretted going for the shock factor, but it was the only idea I had :)

You're welcome Remedy. Truthfully, I never would have guessed you threw it together. You did a fine job in a short time.

I'm so still smiling seriously!

You're immensely welcome Parson. Keep up the good work.

Right, taking a break from trying to learn Sage. This is not fun.

Thanks to the ever magnificent SB for the amusing and sizzling review. As always greatly appreciated.

and a hearty thanks to Glen, telford, Hex and Talysia for the mentions.

If (and it's a big if) the computer does not end up being heaved out the window, I'll endeavour to read through the entries and vote in the next few days.

A big thanks to Springs and Talysia for the short lists!

Thanks for the mentions/shortlisting Cat's Cradle, Glen, telford, Talysia and springs, and thanks to Starbeast and Victoria for the reviews. And big ups to Hex for setting a very enjoyable challenge. Now to peruse and vote...

I keep reading these over and over. The decision is quite difficult. I definitely could have used three votes, as has already been said.

Anyway, here's the best I could come up with:

Short List:

Kerrybuchanan

Cat's Cradle

Juliana

willwallace

alchemist

chrispenycate

Parson

The Three Votes I Would Have Cast:

Ashleyne. B. Watts

springs

johnnyjet

Even now, I'm not sure who to vote for. However, duty demands that I pick one, so my vote goes to:

johnnyjet

If I have to give a reason, I suppose that the way in which the theme was used was particularly original.

Sancho - Firstly, nice to meet you. And second, you created an entertaining story that is a good mix of an incredible tale of old, and gave it a whole new twist by blending in elements of modern times. Good stuff. Strawberries do sound good right now./QUOTE]

Many Thanks for the review Starbeast and as a newbie, I am all the ideas and stories. I am having a hard time even making a short list.

What do you mean "wrong pick" springs? (n)

Thanks for the vote, Victoria! That was an unexpected surprise! And thanks, telford, for the mention.

I'm still mulling over my selections...

Okay, after much rumination:

Honourable Mentions:
Harpo, A. Fare Wells, chrispenycate, Harebrain, jastius, Holland, Ursa major, martin321, StilLearning, David Evil Overlord, Parson.

Short List:
Ashleyne. B. Watts, springs, Juliana, Talysia, Bowler1, Hex & Perpetual Man.

Favorite:
Phyrebrat's evocative and witty "Snow Blight"

There were such diverse takes on this that I found it very tough to even put the shortlist together but here it is my Shortlist:

Cat's Cradle's Fairy King,
I had to read many times and each time I found myself being enticed in a new direction. I found it atmospheric with amazing depth for just 75 words.

Juliana's The bitter end
Wonderfully oppressive darkscape scene. You really captured the brooding malevolence.

Chrispenycate
I love how you waited till the last two lines to tie this back to the fairy tale but still managed to weave helicopters in with spinning wheels

My vote however goes to Jastius
I am so envious that you succeeded where my scifi effort ended up crumpled in the bin. But you have shown that less is more here. Old cows in Spacer bars, Laudenum in the hydropnics grove. I found the little boy blues band as scarily impressive as a klingon scarecrow.

Thanks Starbeast for the kind words! I'm being continually and pleasantly surprised by how nice everyone is around here.

You know what? I think I'm gonna set my stuff down and stay here for a time. Now, where are my fags?
