I had an enjoyable weekend at Confluence: reuniting with old acquaintances, meeting new people, enjoying some very good panels, participating in one writing workshop and another writing critique session with professional editors, buying some books, checking out some cool art, listening to readings and music, etc.
I did get to talk to Chris Kennedy after his reading. By the way, we talked about you, @ratsy! All good of course.
I saw Gail Z. Martin in a couple of panels but didn't get a chance to talk with her. I really enjoyed her in the panel "Fast, Furious and Credible" about writing good fight scenes. She was very intelligent and funny. One of the best panels.
I also got to talk to Geoffrey Landis. He's a regular at Confluence, but this was the first time I was brave enough to actually talk with him. Very friendly and easy to talk to.
Confluence, the annual sf/f/h literary conference held in Pittsburgh, PA (my neck of the woods), will be held during the weekend of Aug. 4-6 this year. Any Chrons member in the area is welcome to look me up if you can make it.
@Juliana, since you're getting panel experience at Boskone, here's another opportunity for you to get more exposure. (Hint hint) (I guess it was more than just a hint, wasn't it?)

I actually looked at the website a couple of days ago to see if they were taking panelist applications.
I'd love to go, but it's a bit far: almost 8hrs by car, around 12hrs by bus. And I don't think I can really afford to fly.......... (Unless I find a really cheap flight.) Maybe I can convince my husband and kids to go and make it a family roadtrip!
