I don't know whether or not this topic has been covered before on here but I've thought of a 'new' (new to me) candidate for the Hooded Man in ADWD: Raynald Westerling! He was extremely loyal to Robb and supposedly died at the Red Wedding (shot by crossbow bolts while freeing Grey Wind) but he left a bloody trail leading to the river steps and his body was never found. I realise GRRM doesn't generally adhere to this rule but in TV, if you don't see 'em die, then they ain't dead!

Your theory is plausible... I will point out that the Westerlings joined Robbs cause after Theon left for pyke, so they had never met while in Robb's service, but that doesn't mean anything one way or another. as a staunch supporter, Raynald would have cause to hate someone who betrayed his leige lord, and even more cause to murder Freys and Bolton men.

If Raynald survived the Red Wedding he is a great candidate for the Hooded Man. That's a pretty big IF, but why point out that he staggered to the water and his body was never found?

Because of the (almost) immutable law of TV that if you don't see them die.... I was just pointing out that we didn't 'see' him die

Where does the Hooded Man appear in the story?

Theon/Reek runs into him at Winterfell towards the end of Dance of Dragons and he calls Theon a kinslayer and stuff. He's the chief suspect in the Winterfell murders but no one knows who he is. Which is awesome.

he is the chief suspect for the murders that cannot be attributed to Able's washerwomen anyway. He was prowling around the castle with a dagger....

Okay... I'll reread it. But off the top of my head, I'd say it's Mance. And if I've completely misremembered, then I'll throw out the big one....

Howland Reed.

Howland Reed.

I seriously need Howland Reed to be introduced in the story.

Do you really think Howland Reed is going to be introduced? I think the story's gone too far now without him - both his children have taken a part and his name's been mentioned sparingly but that's about it

Don't the crannogmen follow the Old Gods?

They do, but some believe Howland had gotten himself into High Septon role to mess with sweet Cersei. You don't have to believe in the religion to infiltrate it and use the followers and gain power. ^^

I still think that if anyone is posing as High Sparrow, it is Varys.

Sry, you naughty girl. I love it when I read something brand new. Varys is the High Septon?!?!

Holy sh*t, that new?! I thought that was an old theory lel. It simply clicked with me TBH. IDK why. Maybe because he made the situation in KL even more complicated and created a whole new turmoil and then Varys in person eliminated Kevan for a more than ever disturbed Cersei to return to power. Besides, Sparrow kinda showed up only after Varys disappeared and he is a master of disguise after all.

Don't give my crackpot too much credit though. I didn't pull out any real evidence to support it. XD I honestly thought it was a spread out theory because I was sure I read about it. XD
