DISCUSSION -- February 2015 75-word Writing Challenge

FIGHT THE LULL!!!
Hello, all! I hope it's not a problem if I place an advert here for the new 100-word Anonymous Challenge, that's happening as you read over in the Workshop. So, the lull..we're all experiencing that down time while we wait for the voting results in the 300 worder...many of us have gotten our entries in for this month's exciting 75 worder...so what to do, what to do.. If you have a writing itch that still chafes the inner reaches of your creativity, why not come join us in the Workshop, and create a thrilling 100 word story on our current theme 'The Cloud'. The challenge runs through the 20th of this month; we already have 10 exciting stories entered, and we'd love to see more people, and more entries, in our nascent little event. The instructions are posted in a thread there...please visit! Merci, CC

I'm giving away a bit of my misspent youth with my 75 word entry today. There are some obscure dance songs references on there (obscure now, clearly not when the song was released (one of my favourite bands of all time as well)) that are old like me now. I'm not expecting any votes for my effort, but I really enjoyed mashing an old classic tail into my twisted entry.

Smiling happily, Bowler1 leaves the thread doing big fish, big box, little fish, little box....

Bowler i love it! Was listening to faithless this morning, revisiting my own youth.

Mr Orange turns on a strobe ray gun and dances manically off

Cat's Cradle -- This celebratory ballad conveys the joy of freedom powerfully.

Kerrybuchanan -- With a sweeping range of emotions, this fable touches the heart.

Remedy -- Anyone who has been part of the corporate world can appreciate this enchanting story of escape.

Locksmith -- This haunting tale of wishes and regrets stirs the reader's emotions.

willwallace -- With sly wit, the author presents us with a character whose desires are unusual.

Teresa Edgerton -- The contrast between the extraordinary and the mundane creates a true sense of wonder in this tale.

Tywin -- The author strikes just the right tone of tastefully risque humor in this amusing story.

telford -- This wild comedy presents an entirely new way of reminding us to be careful what we wish for.

johnnyjet -- This gentle fantasy faces the greatest of all mysteries with hope and resolution.

High Eight -- An ancient myth is brought vividly to life in this evocative tale.

Bowler1 -- This modern twist on an old legend captures the irresistible rhythms of its theme.

Thanks so much, Perp, for the very nice review! And thank you, Victoria for the kind words! :)

Thank you DG Jones and Victoria for awesome reviews. I must give it a go myself one month :)

What's wrong with this month Remedy? I love reviews, why wait?

I never felt the urge myself, but I do like to see what other people see in my attempts at creativity. Go on... give it a go.

Howdy,
Springs, what have you done?, I thought we were friends!

I was going to just forget this month, then I saw that even more people will be writing reviews. so I'm in, that is if I can come up with an idea. I never had any inspiration to be a writer and if it were not for the kind reviews every month I would not be here. Thank you to all the fine folks doing reviews and keep up the good work.

I had a meeting last night with Paw, Ma, the Boy and the Twins, nobody knew what Springs was talking about, so I'll have to do this one myself. The Twins are getting along as well as can be expected, after a quick trial Cain was released in Abel's custody.

Have a good day,
Bob

@High Eight - Up Helly Aa - The purging, cleansing power of fire as a force of death and resurrection is shown fully and completely here in this crackling yarn that bring humans face to face with their gods and monsters and what do we see? When we see Odin's torch, his glozy eye and the burning galley disappearing against an inky sea, we see that it's us: we are the fire, the lights in the darkness, the instigators of death and rebirth through the cycle of life.

@Bowler1 - The Pied Piper Plays Old School House - the music, the rhythms, the crowds, that reverberating pound pound pounding sensation that gets you right in the kidneys, intensifying with each passing second of insomnia that makes waking so restless, so reckless, so Faithless. The story pulses like strobe lighting across the slick skin of the sleepless sybarite and gives us a sweet, visceral taste of that heady mix of proximity and ecstasy.

Hey @Remedy , given it's my first month reviewing, I'd wholly recommend it. It makes you consider the stories in a different way, and is another excellent form of writing practise, and it's great fun - I think I really appreciate everybody's efforts more through posting the reviews!
