Writing soundtracks

My favourite soundtrack albums that I keep on returning to are:
Battlestar Galactica - Season 1
Tron
Bladerunner
The Road to Perdition
All the LOTR's albums
Kingdom of Heaven
The Fifth Element - there's some classic tracks in this one.
The Last Samurai
Prisoners
Guild Wars 2 - yes, the game has an exceptional soundtrack

I'm constantly adding new albums to the mix.

I listen to music when I'm brainstorming story ideas. A lot of it happens in the car during my morning commute to work. Instrumental esp classical orchestra helps when I am rewriting or editing. But when I'm producing totally new content, I write in silence because I get immersed in my other world. Plus I mutter dialogue to myself!

I also mutter dialogue:) I'm testing to see if it sounds natural when spoken out loud:)

I often read my stories out loud at the editing stage because it helps me spot mistakes. Despite popular belief, I actually really hate the sound of my own voice, so I have to make sure I have the house to myself first.

I often read whole section back out-loud::

:: often when I finish and look away from the screen I can see my wife across the room wearing her pink ear protectors from the shooting range.
This always prompts me to look at her hands to make sure she doesn't also have the gun.
