Has Martin stopped writing ASoIaF?

I suspect Martin works on Winds of Winter minimally these days. Maybe a couple thousand words a month. Tops.

I doubt he'll ever come out and announce he's stopped working on ASoIaF. He'll just carry on with other projects, like the Game of Thrones TV spin-offs, and deflect questions about the status of the books. Those questions will come less and less frequently, as once Games of Thrones has wrapped up, few people will give the unfinished books any thought.

I have asked this before, and I will ask it again. Why does he need to? Why is finishing the story through HBO so bad? It gives him time to do other things that he is NOW interested in. Their is so much that could be done with the world he created, with letting it be done with HBO it gives him time.

I am ok with others using his world for their own writing. What is wrong with that?

Nothing wrong with it at all. It's clear Martin has other projects these days that he finds more engaging. I just hope he eventually hands over ASoIaF to someone else to finish. Because only the most die-hard optimist still thinks he'll finish it.

In some of the episodes of this season some of the scripts for the conversations were quite bland. I think George would have some better writing in Winds of Winter. No doubt there would be some unnecessary diversions from the main stories though. Also for A Dream Of Spring I think if he could pass on his outlines to another talented Fantasy writer that could be a good thing. But I don't see it happening.
It is odd that he hasn't even commented on the series finale but no doubt it will come up in future convention appearances.

Shock! Horror! There are people who don't own a TV! I have even met a couple of them before. There is absolutely nothing wrong with him being too bored to finish off the book series himself, but what would be very wrong would be to not have them ghost written or finished jointly by someone else; to simply leave all those people who have bought the books so far in a state of limbo about the end. It would show a total disregard for the people who gave him a living.

The problem is we don't actually know - unless Martin steps in here we don't know. We can guess, we can theorize and the longer is the bleaker those guesses become until suddenly he's devil worshipping and running over puppies instead of writing the books.

I'd guess that if he put out fast published ghost writtne work most here would be screaming about how its disrespectful that he didn't take the time to finish them himself properly. But if he does the latter people scream for the other - its a no win situation until he publishes them ;)

That is odd, but the first time I watched it, was on a laptop and a dvd at my girl friends house. That is a good tip I just gave, laptops are great!
