35.01: The Magician's Apprentice

Firstly my apologies, I said I wouldn't watch it ever again, but just watched it on catch up.
And that was because I thought it was superior to most of the stuff that we saw last year.
It was better, and possibly good enough for me to watch again. Shock, Horror of horrors! He messed around with canon - hasn't Davros died more times than both the Doctor and the Master together? - but often you need to break eggs to make a good story/cake. This was based on a good premise - the one spoken by Tom Baker in the clip from Genesis of the Daleks - what if the Doctor could go back and kill Davros as a child before he invented Daleks. I also like the idea of cliffhangers. I miss the cliffhangers from the old Who. I just wonder why that was the cliffhanger and not the extermination of Missy and Clara. They were actually exterminated, right? Just, that I can't see how they might not have been. And I do hope so, because the sooner Clara leaves the show the better. It was in the newspapers last year that she was leaving and then she changed her mind (sensible decision as she is unlikely to ever get as good a job.)

@Dave Clara is leaving next year. She just landed a major role as Queen Victoria in a new drama. Season 9 will be her last season on the show.

Loved the entire episode. Missy comparing Clara to the dog being walked by the couple was priceless; and how Missy was offended by The Doctor calling Davros his nemesis over her. I would love to see Missy take on Davros and the Daleks on her own.

I just received BBC America recently. And was thrilled to catch a trailer to the NEW Dr Who, which featured DAVROS!!!

I watched Part 1 and 2. I was enchanted by that story, it was extremely entertaining. I LOVED IT!!!

I haven't seen Doctor Who for many years. It was fantastic to see another great actor playing the Doctor, another great Companion, a new Master and Daleks with their creator, Davros. Excellent effects and dialogue.

Since then, I've seen a few other episodes featuring the new Doctor, plus the one before him, AND, old Tom Baker episodes. For me, this is the best show on television.
