Little-read Writing Hood; or Words in Play


The judge is close to pronouncing my sentence. I expect chapter and verse.

“Yours isn’t a singular case,” she says. “You’re the third person—”

“My objective—”

“Stop!” She sharpens her verbal claws. “Subordinates can’t do omniscience.”

Though tense, my voice must be heard, and with not a second to lose. “You’re being subjective. Here’s my preposition: yours can be the exclusive point of view.”

“Meaning?”

De-clenching, I say, “What big Is you’ll have, Grammar.”





 
Relativity

We did it as an experiment to test the Sapir-Whorf hypothesis. We found an empty and habitable planet a set up a colony there. The idea was to completely eliminate the concept of war from their language. For generations they lived in peace, isolated from the rest of the universe. Until one day, they peacefully conquered the entire galaxy – without a single battle. Mind control was all they needed.
