Gollancz open call January 2016

I'd forgotten. I've heard nothing. Thanks.

I'm beginning to think that unless a publisher is really excited and committed to a big publicity campaign it's better not to be accepted?

Just be aware that some people think Gollancz is not sending out a rejection card to everyone... so you could be in either the further consideration pile or the rejected without being notified pile. Not what I would call a clear cut or satisfactory position to be in, IMHO.

On the twitter link, they say "we still have a few replies to sort out, but if you've not heard from us in a few weeks then yes" [ie assume you're rejected].

I've just had a rejection card. I got some good feedback with it though, so I'm pleased about that.

If they are sending out feedback, even if only for some submissions, that would be a great benefit. Most agencies directly state they will not give feedback, and in my (very extensive) list of rejections I have only received one simple sentence - the characters were not engaging - on my work.

Last week I too received a rejection card. At least it gives reassurance someone has looked at my script and took some time to respond.

I went to a local novel writers' group this week. I got some positive feedback to my novel idea from a soon to be published author, with a creative writing PhD. So Gollancz was last week's paper cut and this week I am buoyed with new optimism.

I submitted and honestly I'd forgotten! I haven't heard anything and now I'm wondering if it even got there.
