But seriously, which period are you writing? Medieval or modern day?

If standard medieval like Lord of the Rings or A Game of Thrones, modern ranks like you listed wouldn't be in use (or invented or named or whatever) and you would have man-at-arms, master-of-arms and knights, but basic soldiers would be called warriors, perhaps spearmen or swordsmen.

Whichever, look at armies from the period you are writing in, specifically their organisational structure.
