December 100-Word Anonymous Challenge - Discussion

Took me a while to figure out why Mosaix was doing the whole challenge by himself... Oh right, scroll up and remember which thread you have just clicked on. o_O It's been a long December.

*Ensign Shah wanders off to find those blue pills she is so fond of*

Nice entries anonymous folks. (y)

"Always keep the receipt" -- What seems to be a portrait of an ordinary, everyday encounter turns into something cosmic.

"Instinct" -- The reader may react to this Gothic tale with a mixture of horror and sympathy.

"Internal Perspective" -- With Rabelaisian wit the author turns First Contact into something unexpected.

"Not with a bang, but...." -- Like much classic literature, this satiric look at modern times examines humanity through a microscope.

"Not at the whim of a banker" -- The author takes on the extraordinarily difficult task of making economics amusing.

"Merry Christmas" -- Through the use of familiar archetypes, this offering provides a warm, intimate, very human story.

"<DESK NUMBER TWO, PLEASE>" -- What seems at first to be a simple comedy of errors turns into something much more imaginative.

"A Soldier's Homecoming" -- By using vivid details, the author creates a truly powerful account of the price of war.

Obviously, if I fail to submit a story anyone is welcome to use my name as a coloured fish.

Hi everyone. The last story has been posted and the challenge is now closed. Down a bit on numbers but I'm sure you'd all agree that it's the quality that counts.

It's a bit late here so I'll put up the poll in the morning. :)

I just learned about this but did you know that from father to son parallels the immortal jellyfish, which is the only animal known to be able to go from an adult jellyfish to back to a baby jellyfish. When I heard about it this story popped into my head. :D

Um. Not wanting to be picky or awkward, but it's a) the sixth and b) 12pm is midday, not midnight.

Quite right to be picky, Robert. :)

Stupid me. I had it in my head that the challenge closed on the fifth!

So there's still time to get in those last minute entries!

It seems the # of participants has been slipping on this challenge. Maybe I should enter...again...or for the first time...or second :sneaky:

I don't think Christmas has helped, Ratsy. But I've just posted another one so things are improving.

There won't be a 100 challenge during January because of the 300, so when the voting's over perhaps we should have a discussion thread to formalise the start, end and voting dates for the 100.

Okay, the usual stuff, all great stories blah, blah. My favorites:
Instinct Father and son Hair of the Dog (That has Starbeasts fingerprints all over it).
By a smigeon I picked A Soldier's Homecoming. Congrats, ah, whoever.
