I thought the special was pretty good but Capaldi never won me over and I wish River was a bigger part of the show. As of now I am officially in mourning for Clara. She was my all time favorite companion.

Yes! Another Clara fan.
So many thought she was too dominating as a companion. In retrospect, both the 12th Doctor and Peter Capaldi may have needed the firm guidance she provided in their first season together.

I rewatched the episode. I just enjoyed it so much. The last part with River and Doctor, I don't think kids were very interested in it, but I think of it more like a parental bonus. After all the exciting stuff happened, something a bit sedate and romantic for the parents and other adults watching it. I was thoroughly entertained by the argument about respective spouses. XD

I liked this Xmas Special and immediately afterwards I had to go onto Netflix and watch the Tennant/Tate double episode in the library.

I'm another who thinks Clara was awesome (my Mrs hates her, probably because I like her!) and I shall also be mourning her passing...
