Bird of Prey

Is this a stealthy boat with a view to attacking with surprise, or stealthy for the purpose of reconnaissance? Different names would be appropriate in the two cases, I think. For the first case maybe Praying Mantis (or just Mantis) or perhaps Chameleon. (Mantises are well-camouflaged.) For the latter? Star Shadow.

oh just go all out and forget stealth with Dominator ;)

Wouldn't Djinn also give the stealth and incredible strength idea?

Just a thought::

If you wanted to give them a predatory name how about APEX

Then if you wanted to give them stealth you might go with a suffix APEX-RAM

The suffix being the stealth mode in this case Radar-absorbent material

Of course if you have it too close to something like that and the enemy know the name then they know the counter measures. So you might have to stealth out that part of the name to something else.

Okay guys, the ship's got a name. But to outsiders, who can see her visually, but can't read her on sensors, they have to call her something. Hence, I'm looking for a nickname for something that can't be seen.

The Destructinator?

BTW, just a comment, I loved the name of the attack boat in UC, Truculent. It perfectly captured the manner in which that class of ship (appears to be) used. Send it into an area and have it try and pick fights. Kind of like a wolverine, small and spunky but eager to have a scrap.

The McCavity's Not There

If they have to come out of stealth in order to use weapons then it should read::

If you can read this you are dead.

Not sure this is what you're gunning for

Real life:

Bogey: A return that where neither the type, nor intentions can be confirmed.
Bandit: A return believed hostile, but type not confirmed.

Or are you looking for something similar to the NATO codenames. (E.g not what the originators called it)

List of NATO reporting names for fighter aircraft - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also, there may be two, an official Athenian code name and a slang term.

Food for thought might be:

Official names might be based off ghosts and malevolent spirits (as invisible)

A Ghost/Banshee/Spirit etc

The corresponding unofficial name might be

Spooky/Wailer/Misty
