Game of Thrones: 6.05 - The Door

All the emotions over hodor - brilliantly done, fantastic ending. Just know that zombie hodor will be popping up when we least expect it too

Good point, hadn't thought about that!

I wonder will we get 'Coldhands' in this season? Could he be brought in to save Bran and Meera?

It seems it would be the ideal time to introduce him, if they are going to. I think they probably won't, though. I suspect Meera will drag Bran back to Castle Black, where he'll just have missed Jon and Sansa...

Great episode, and it feels the show has a real sense of momentum now, rather than the treading water pace of last season.

thing is that cap'n cold has now tagged Bran and so knows exactly where he is - and he can move a LOT faster than Bran and Meera...

I still don't quite believe in the existance of gods in grrm's world, haven't seen prove of their existance yet. Only seen magic at work.

Are you saying that resurrection of Iron Island new king was magic and not an act of god? That people often drag drowned people on beach and these victims get better on their own?

though I'd drop it here (rather than "things that make you smile") in case people haven't seen this epi yet

Many, many good things about this episode:

  • Littlefingers appearing as if by magic, does House Arryn having a secret cache of giant eagles? Sansa was awesome in this part, not sure why she didn't get Brienne to finish the job. Of course, now that she didn't and has instead sent Brienne off on her own, is Brienne done for? And is Blackfish really still alive?
  • Speaking of Brienne, loved her speech to Sansa, highly amusing (Jon's ok, bit of a broody type though ;) )
  • And the look from Tormund was classic, deserves a picture (that dude in the middle needs to get out of the way!

  • Revelations about the COTF and the origins of the Night's King. Raises certain questions but I'll look the other way for now..
  • Hodor of course, heart wrenching stuff, true hero, legend, what more can you say? Also raises lots of questions about time travel but I've been there before (no pun intended) so won;t go down that road again.

Brienne to meet Lady Stoneheart? A certain brother on an island? It is like certain parts of the story are working back on thenselves.

Yup, not seen proof of gods just yet, only seen magic. Mind you, the problem with gods is, that they can never be truly seen, and therefore proven. Cause once you see God, it ceases to be a god and just becomes a powerful entity (if it wasn't just that from the beginning). Ofc. some people would call that powerful entity a god but I wouldn't.

Oh man, i just remembered. Didn't Bran went like: I saw Hodor in my vision, his name was Wylis and he could talk. I wonder what happened to him (looks at Hodor). Hodor responds: Hodor Hodor....

Just been thinking, twice now blood Raven took bran back to see young Willis /hodor. Nothing very exciting was happening at each visit, so I thought 'why is blood Raven so keen on this bit of the past?' Especially with a white walker attack, why that bit and, I don't know, a bit more tower of joy or what happened to bran's uncle instead? Seems pointless

But of course, it was very important, it's when bran mind hexes Willis into hodor so bran can survive. But how would blood raven know to take bran there, at that time?

He couldn't, unless he can see the future as well! He knew bran had to go back to that point in time to hodor-ify Willis because blood Raven had already seen that happen in his future

He also said that bran needed to become him, has he also taught bran to see the future?

It was Bloodraven's final lesson to Bran. You can affect the past, but it can have horrific results. It's one of the reasons Bloodraven pulls Bran out of the past after he tries to call to Ned. Bran/Hodor are part of a Causal Loop, it had to happen because it had already happened, but it also serves as a warning to Bran to be very careful with his powers.

EDIT: New theory! Bran is Azhor Ahai, Time travel is Lightbringer, Hodor is Nissa Nissa....

Absolutely possible, the timeline from the book is so messed up on screen now we could still see anything from earlier in the story...

That would certainly explain why we haven't heard anything of the Freys lately.

Hodor... I was stunned, for the first time in a long while, the writing of GOT has managed to have a profound impact on me.

Do any of the book readers know if the Dothraki have supplanted an older more advanced civilization? That arch formed by gigantic bronze horses display a level of artistry and engineering beyond the reach of the moronic warlords we've seen so far.

time was the dohtraki built great cities, one day the great prophet had a vision about his people. Since then he conquered all, left his own city standing (vaes dothrak) and transformed his people into somewhat nomadic like warhungry people.

But Vaes Dothrak is a shambles. Or is this one of those "it is known" things?

It's been remade into a storage shed basically for all the loot and stuff they took from other cities. The movie adaptation makes Vaes Dothrak look less than it really is though

I seem to recall the gist is that the Dothraki especially like looting idols and statues from conquered lands,so the horses could be that.

Has my made-up background story for the dothraki been seen through?
