Discussion thread -- June 2016 75-word Writing Challenge

My short list
The Dusty Zebra: Recipe
Mosaix: Now yer see it
Shyrka: Curse
Still Learning: Weighty problem
Hazel Rah: Short cut to rest
Sinister42: Reboot

I like mine too :)

Really loads of others probably as good ... But since I have to choose and I'm not compiling an anthology or a single quilt from them
Hazel Rah: Short cut to rest

Really I dislike voting! Still it's not as disastrous as some votes can be.

Merci for the shortlist!

thanks for the listings @Starbeast, @sinister42 and @TheDustyZebra

and what's this? another stealth vote? many thanks @Perpetual Man!

that's two stealth votes.... hmmm... i'm begninning to think people are hesitant to acknowledge they voted for such a brilliant/terrible/fowl (delete as appropriate) pun...

You're very welcome Mr Orange. You're tale adhered to me like Duck Tape. Besides the terribly brilliant zinger at the end, I enjoyed the line, "Maybe your sermon last week claiming Alfred the Giant Mallard is the devil?"

I'd like to thank:-
Starbeast:- Finalists Chrispenycate

You are immensely welcome Chrispenycate. You do have an astonishing way with words my friend.

right i'm off to vote. i might even ahve time to make a shortlist. and read the entries... back in a sec'...

so found time to both read the entries and write a shortlist:

@Starbeast

Thank you for the Short Listing. You made my day Mr Orange.

Nixie – There is something intrinsically beautiful in the winter displays that start to creep in in the autumn, frost covered boughs dappled with multi-coloured radiance as the capture stray beams o cold sunlight, although there is a difference with something touched by natures touch and forcing the design.

Ach, you pugnacious BLEEP, art is just that – art as much a creative masterpiece as a machine.

TJ – Ah, industrial sabotage one of the greatest tools in the implementation and improvement of industry, the enforcement of evolution in the most pure and effective form.

You make me sick.

TDZ – And here we have – hey someone’s ripped this page out of my spellbook!

Heh heh heh, any one spot a stripy horse, don’t tell him!

ratsy – Another benefit of mass production is that even if the creation is prone to failure, sooner or later you are going to hit on something that is perfect and works. It doesn’t matter about the waste, it’s all a learning process. Once you’ve nailed it, you’re set.

Do you ever listen to yourself? Really listen? I’m just so exasperated about now!

Mad Alice – The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Or one. Sacrifice can be such a beautiful thing if it is for the greater good, noble and pure hearted with just the right amount of sadness. I think I’m going to cry.

You great big elvish wazzock. It’s only a BLEEPING pixie an… uh… and… uh, they are, or course wonderfully beauteous things.

Ursa – A prayer to the beauty of mass production, and wonder of trying and trying until you have a model that works. If that infringes on anyone else’s freedom, well I say BEEP ‘em, that’s what I say. Success, wealth and productivity, nothing else matters.

Well BLEEP you, you BEELPIDY little BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP! You’ve been corrupted by all the BLEEPING BLEEPS and leave nothing left but a BLEEPING BLEEP soul, stained and BLEEPING perverted by the mechanisms of avarice and BLEEPING wealth.

Finished now? I think you’ll find that’s it.

Really?

Aye.

Hmm, what now then?

Fancy a pint?

Yes, that sounds rather nice, I am rather dry after all that.

Yeah, me too. How’s the missus?

Very well, she was only saying that we should have you and Grok around for dinner next time you are both around….

This voting window really does go around quickly. I want to get mine in soon; it's contending with interview prep, so I'll get to voting when I'm happy with it.

p.s. thanks for listings. Looks like being an even spread of votes this time. (sends subliminal vibes) What?

Good stuff

Thank you to anyone who has mentioned my story!

You're very welcome Lady Ashleyne. And a big THANK YOU for you listing me as well. You made my night.

Crispy gets a well deserved mention. Ashleyne, Starbeast, Droflet, TDZ and Ratty for more deserved mentions. Lastly but not least is Mosaix who gets a vote for a well written voice - and a good lead now, good for you mate.

Well ZAP me sideways! Thank you Bowler1 for the Mention. You definitely made my night.

And a mighty applaud to the reviewers: @Victoria Silverwolf - @Perpetual Man - @Calliopenjo

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but for the new folks who've entered their first challenge, if you like you can discuss your entries freely, now that the challenge has concluded. There's also a thread where you can post your entry if you want some in-depth analysis of your story - what worked, what did not. Here's the link:

What a truly beautiful Hine, a particularly fine vintage. Hows the Glenmorangie?

It's as smooth as liquid silk, with a kick like my aunt Doris after a Saturday night.

Magnificent. I suppose we should buy an extra glass.

We should? Why?

For mosaix of course, he has just won the challenge.

Did he really? Well congratulations that man! I'm not paying.

Surprise is not a word I associate with that statement. I'll pay. Though, what should we procure for him?

mosaix? I think he's a rather gentle soul, a fine sauvignion perhaps, he might not be able to handle some of the stuff we drink. Get a little dizzy if you know what I mean.

I think that is rather judgemental, but you are probably right. Lets play safe and get him some goats milk.

and a huge
CONGRATULATIONS from all of us!
