Sadly I was joshing. Golden Clay is the name of my Super Spy alter ego (the name's Clay. Golden Clay...). My real middle name is Geoffrey, as in Geoffrey from Rainbow. Or Geoffrey from Boycott.

I was going to say I now want to hear your Yorkshire accent but I've got a funny idea I know what it sounds like...

Danny 'Golden Boy' Jones

This is tough because it is quite a common name. I almost want it to stand out a bit.

But given the options, I would go with Dan Jones I think.

Danny 'Golden Boy' Jones sounds like he writes tough, uncompromising, gritty crime stories that "Aren't true, but based on the people I know, sights I've seen and maybe - possibly - the things I've done."

There'd be a lot of shooting people in the face with paintball guns.

How about D. *full middle name* Jones. Not sure if it's been suggested already, but that might be a clever little pen name

I like both Daniel G. Jones and D.G. Jones, I think they're both pretty strong. I'm not sure whether I like the DG Jones because I actually like it though, or just because I'm used to seeing your handle in the forum threads:confused:. There is a J.V. Jones who writes Fantasy - spelling's sufficently different, I think, but the pronunciation's sort of similar (at least in my country bumpkin twang!).

Have you tried doing a mock-up of a book cover, or the front page for a manuscript? I found seeing the different names in large fonts helped me pick one.

Going back through the posts I see your middle name Golden. D. Golden Jones sounds interesting but I don't personally care for it, sounds too much like Thee Golden Jones which is just a weird association to make.

Have you thougt about flipping it around? Maybe D Jon Golden? Or D. Jon Gold? (JONES GOLD/EN sounds too much like a law firm) Golden sounds like a good Sur-pen-name

All this middle initialling and coolness quotient :) discussion has me vividly in mind of Maskerade by Terry Pratchett - where Agnes Nitt wants the stage name of Perdita X Dream, where X stands for a really cool middle name you'd never guess...

And not that you've suggested it, but I think I'd avoid Geoff Jones - would look OK but could be a bit tongue tangling.

This is starting to get a little odd now! This is one of those things that's going to quickly spiral out of my control, isn't it? Once more, I was only joshing about the whole Golden thing... ;)
