Does anyone know of a sort of family saga set in space, or in a fantasy world?

There's quite a lot of that in The Silmarillion, but I guess that's not quite what you were thinking of.

If Jo Zebedee's Abendau series gets any longer, it would qualify.

The Archers in Space! Bags first dibs on writing it, as long as I can kill off the Aldridges in the most horrific way possible. (Eaten by the Grundys' genetically-modified ferrets comes to mind, but just isn't nasty enough...)

I think one of the Space Captain Smith books had the Archers growing triffids somewhere. And someone did use the phrase "... the way old people like holographic Poldark". But I digress...
