Discussion Thread -- July 2017 75-word Writing Challenge

Just popping in very quickly as we're off out for the day** but I wanted to congratulate Joshua.

CONGRATULATIONS, JOSHUA!!

Thank you for the almost vote, Hazel, and I see I've had a stealth vote -- mega-thanks, ratsy!

** I'm damned if I'm wearing that hideous yellow confection again, so I'm off for a fitting in an elegant number in coral for a change, and with absolutely no lace. If I've got to be a bridesmaid yet again, I might as well look good in the damn dress. :D

Congrats to JJ, and also to all the other awesome authors. Cheers for the good reads!

I can do coral, so by all means, hang that one up in the staff wardrobe when you're done. Anyone who doesn't like it can just win instead.

Wow, thanks for all the mentions, I didn't expect to be so present on anyone's list:eek:
And thanks for the stealth vote Freydis
Haha, my apologies. It was not intended to be a stealth vote but for the fact that I was out for dinner with friends and never had an opportunity to do an actual post with a shortlist and comments. Hopefully next time.
Really loved your story though, touched on one of the things in life I've always wondered about :)

It's not too late -- everyone appreciates mentions, even if they're late. :D

Congratulations Joshua Jones!

Thanks to The Judge for the kind mention. Not my best performing month by any stretch but I'm pretty happy given the quality of the competition.

Congratulations, Joshua Jones, for a standout story and well-deserved win, among a lot of top notch entries this month!

And thanks to all those who listed my tale: Cathbad, Phyrebrat, TheDustyZebra, and Ursa major.

I returned home late last night from a really rough weekend (my wife's stepmother has terminal cancer, and her time on this earth is likely measured in weeks), fully expecting @The Judge or @Teresa Edgerton to have overtaken me in the votes. What a pleasant and needed surprise to have actually won my first challenge! A huge thank you to @Perpetual Man, @Parson, @TheDustyZebra, @Starbeast, @LittleStar, @johnnyjet, @holland, @Dan Jones, @Ihe, @Shyrka, @Alex Darion, @Hugh, and @dannymcg for the votes and for all those who shortlisted my story. Especially big thanks to TJ who offered a peer review of my story.

Thank you all again for the wonderful coming home surprise!

Well, good news is that yellow is nowhere in my ceremony. Bad news is, the main color is pool blue. Good news is that I am amicable toward coral. Bad news is that I am merely a stage decoration, also known as the groom...

Right, now I've had a chance to update and check my records, I can confirm that with his magnificent 13 votes this month, Joshua has catapulted up into joint first place with Ashleyne and Cul in the highest score in single-vote 75 worders table! (Ironically, the 9 I got which gave me second place is more than I've ever received when I've won.)

(Sorry to hear about your wife's stepmother, Joshua.)

This is a hard time, I know from experience. I have remembered you in my prayers.

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. She was set free from her pain late last night.
