Enjoyable group of stories! My favorite was Pre-owned, and so I voted.

Whilst I liked all of them, Dig just pipped them to the post and earned got my vote.

I have to say that I think this habit of only guessing 1 or 2 story/author couplets spoils the game, since we are now certain of 1 correct answer and 1 wrong answer.
And I think those who do it should feel extremely ashamed of themselves. :D
(Even if I've done it myself in the past.)
 
Digging around in the vote poll it's very easy to discern who has NOT written a particular story.
This should narrow things down as you can't vote for yourself :)
 
So mosaix didn't write 'in the footsteps of history'
:)
Nor did Cathbad, TitaniumTi, Victoria Silverwolf, farntfar or Phyrebrat.

Who penned it?..... Not me!

In the meantime we need a host for the September 100 and a genre and theme from Shyrka.

I didn't cross-match against votes. It was more interesting trying to match styles, but I obviously didn't do that very well.
 
Wow, thank you! Thank you! I was sitting there earlier, desperately trying to stay quiet as the votes were coming in. I really wasn't expecting much from this entry - I thought something with more personal emotional resonance was sure to steal it - but I knew I liked it, so I popped it in anyway. I'm very glad you folks seemed to like it too - thank you everyone, you've made my night!
