How to handle things that are normal to a character that really shouldn't be?

I don't mind first person. It's present tense that drives me batty. Has driven me batty. :)

I read a mystery novel that was completely true present tense. It was a hard read! I read it through, though, because I'd very rarely seen a book written in such full present tense, and it was an intriguing exercise.

I'll have you know, I hate exercise. :p

I have to agree. Reading in present tense, for some reason, just seems like an unnatural reading experience. I'm okay with first person POV, though, although I have always preferred third person POV.

"I'll have you know, I hate exercise."
