I don't mind first person. It's present tense that drives me batty. Has driven me batty.

I read a mystery novel that was completely true present tense. It was a hard read! I read it through, though, because I'd very rarely seen a book written in such full present tense, and it was an intriguing exercise.
I'll have you know, I hate exercise.
