Discussion Thread -- September 2017 -- 75 Word Writing Challenge

Where is MacDonald? @DragonAether – A surprising glimpse into a future, post robot-apocalypse, where only our nursery rhymes live on.

Faerie Politics, or The Gentry Opposed to Gentrification,
@Abernovo – The bitterness of displaced fae, facing their gradual decline, toward the upstart ‘dull’ humans, is plain to see. Which of their houses will be ‘just right’?

Ring a Ring O’ Sacrifice, @The Judge – Facing certain death, a group of young women make the ultimate sacrifice in the hope that no others will share in their fate.

Ripped from Home, @TheDustyZerbra – The real story behind Rip Van Winkle’s hundred-year sleep is truly out-of-this-world.

The Last Fairy in England, @TitaniumTi – The final end of an endangered species is, for once, not by human hands. A melancholy story that gives paws for thought.

Sleep Surrender, @Mad Alice – We’ve all spent time rummaging around for the remote control. In this story, it has become a matter of life and death.

Thank you to @Parson and @Shyrka for the reviews. So nice to see different interpretations of the entries.
Finally done all the reviews! Could everyone stop waiting until the last minute to post?? :p
Sorry. The inspiration didn't appear until just before the closing bell.

I thought I'd better vote before my time runs out!

My list would be longer but I'm afraid I found some the stories wanting of a sci-fi or fantasy element; I figure that if I have to struggle producing something in those genres, you all should :p. It's a shame because three of them would have been on my favourites list. I also didn't get quite a few even on successve reads but I'm not sure if that is because I don't know my nursery rhymes/fairytales, or what.

So, my favourites, shortlist* and vote.

In the end I had to give it to Luiglin, who just seemed to nail it with exactly what it said on the tin. I liked the simplicity and the visuals.

Thank you for the vote and kind words Hugh and also thanks for the stealth vote Moonbat

Also thanks for the mention Perpetual Man and the short list Phyrebrat - I am really quite flattered because there are a lot of well written and incredibly imaginative entries to compete against.

Right. My short list included: Abernovo, Culhwch, David Evil Overlord, DragonAether, Joshua Jones and TitaniumTi , and it was TitaniumTi who received my vote.

Thanks to Cathbad, farntfar and Phyrebrat for the mentions, and of course Perp for the vote.

Only 25 votes so far, but there is still time…

Looking like the punny bear is beginning to take the lead now with PeterV a close second - I watch formula 1 so find this stuff enthralling :)

Well. Quite a few stories I liked, but I didn't recognize the basis for some of them (the failure is undoubtedly mine), and others didn't seem to meet the mark of being a "backstory". So this month I've just got first, second and third.

*Beary Punny One -- The Failure of Rocker B(i)* -- just too deliciously horrible to pass up.
Phyrebrat -- Weapon of Social Cleansing
Luiglin -- Folderol

Many, many thanks for the vote, TDZ. :):)

And many, many thanks for the stealth vote, Bob Senior. :):)
