I admit it. I play with props, devices, and action figures when writing or imagining a new scene.

Don't worry, that's nothing! I used to use small rectangular pieces of paper to simulate characters and get a better sense of close-up over-the-top fight scenes, imagining the corners were limbs (ie, he roundhouse-kicks her into the wall, but she summersaults last second, pushes off the wall and dives into him through the apartment floor while locking him in a spinning kimura lock, etc). Paper's cheaper, bendier, and provides more freedom of movement--and yes, I'm rationalising playing with paper scraps. As an adult :alien:. I did this until I was far older than I care to admit...

We're all insane here. This is a safe place to confess. All my paper dollies say so. Good dollies they are. Good dollies...

:D

I've been known to act out a fight scene to get the movements correct in my head. I call it bar room brawl tai chi.

Those tiny model dolls actually look really useful! I wish I'd known of their existence back in the day when I was into drawing comics. How expensive are they?

Body-Kun and chan they're called. They cost 60 a set off of eBay. Officially they're 100 a pop from Bonai so I suspect I got knock offs but I can't tell the difference.

You get a selection of hands and weapons too.

Here's what I draw. I am by no means a professional artist by any stretch of the limited imagination.

I really need to clear off my desk and draw some more. I have a comic idea about the start of a Paris crime syndicate during the 1970's. That's one of the characters I've came up with.

Hey - like the toys. Good idea. I'm someone else who has to run a film in their head for some scenes, so 3D models - cool.

And on the topic of 3D models - Julie Czerneda built a whole model village for her fantasy. Its now on Facebook.

Hey, I do this, but I rent action films so I can get visuals for descriptions of fight scenes! Cool. Totally, cool.

Why doesn't your cellist have anything on but a waistcoat and his boots? Is he hoping that werewolf wants his body?
Because they don't make the actual figures from my story, so I had to make due with Schlieck brand figures--I have hundreds of dollars worth, yet I must use imagination to adapt them. She's also supposed to be black, with a curly mayhem atop her head--and, it is her brother's cello, not hers...ah, ha! She's about to use mothers special wire cutters (as mother has taken up work during the graveyard shift at an assembly warehouse)--the girl is about to cut smartly through all four strings on her brother's beloved cello! The "Jaguar" behind her is apparitiously watching as she is about to commit the act! But doesn't she look blithe?

This is amazing--I've got to get some of these for my new children's ghost story that's still in my imagination--The Wraith's Gifts. Wha-ha-ha! I love these--so cool! Unfortunately, my drawings are crude--but I do draw them anyway. Later, I'll show you the two character's I drew when I get my pad charged...

Yeah i dabble a bit. Always wanted to be an artist, recently after my horrible break up I decided to go for it. Invested a crap load of money for everything. I need to really get my room back in order. My ex just literally went up and left leaving behind everything.

It's really nice seeing the wedding dress hanging in the closet.:notworthy:

Here's the last piece I drew.

Gotta put my knowledge of crime to some benefit. Other than being able to indentify the Russian enforcer walking out of a dry cleaners that nobody knows how it stays open.

I have to say it. You possess a real talent. My pad is nearly charged, so I'll show you a comparison in my drawings. I don't know what it is about drawing that helps me or all of us to write our characters and scenes--but I simply don't have artistic drawing ability, thus my pictures are very crude renditions of what's inside the imagination. You, on the other hand--I love this picture--all of it, down to the last detail. You got game, man.

Well, I own about $200 bucks worth--they are Schleick, mostly animals--a few mythical creatures, so individually they range from 2.99-17.99ish. I have many, because in my twin universe the humans are the aliens:)

Why thank you.

I will just say that piece took a long time to do. Granted I was experimenting to see what would work well for backgrounds.

I use a freeware program called Krita for my drawings. It's something the "professionals" scoff at but it's made for drawing, and has an amazing brush selection.

The last Character with all of the Ink is Sergei Volkov he is the partner/ lover of the first Character I showed Jacqueline Lebelle.

Have their backgrounds and story mapped out from 1956-1999

If anybody grasps Russian crime tattoos theyd probably look at Sergei instantly and go Oh dear god!
(They'd probably also look at my avatar and question why I have that.)

It's sad when where you grew up and how you did makes you look at people's tattoos and instantly start checking the opposite arm.

Had that happen with a guy with a lighthouse tattoo on his right arm. Was instantly checking the left.

But that's the beauty of story telling. Anybody from any walk of life can share a slice of reality. Share the experiences and let the world know, or at least feel part of something different.

Show somebody a different perspective.

Don't know if you are aware of this but string instruments like the cello have a sounding post inside the body, under the bridge, linking it to the back of the instrument. Take off the tension on all four strings at once, and it can fall over, really spoiling the instrument and being expensive to put right.

Maybe that's the point.

But a more evil way would be to weaken the strings. Rack the blade of a hack saw across them just enough to weaken them. Next time he tunes.

Why they broke!?

I haven't checked yet, but have you posted an excerpt in the critique section--I'm hooked, already. Love to read a bit of it...

I made the maddening mistake of posting excerpts, which were written from an omniscient point of view. I gathered and printed up all critiques, then purchased Wonderbook, and I've some sad news: I had to creatively destroy my quantum narrator--Professor Hoverdasher. He discorporated yesterday at precisely 7:77 PM:-( I did have a chance to say goodbye, and his last words were, "You mmusst wrrrite it in-in third per-ssss-n..." And then, he was gone-vanished from my arms.
I've since reconstructed my opening and I'm really nervous that I'm thinking to post it for critique. I've done every single thing asked of me in the critiques, which was a huge change (so humbling). Yet, now that the first chapter is complete--I find that I actually like it.

As well, Hoverdasher lives on in a sort of endearing, irony through my screen name! Ha!

I love your Avitar. Wolves are a huge theme, well--sentient wolf-like creatures--in my novel.

And this is how envious Autumn Joy feels toward her brothers deep brown cello!

Oh did it crash to the hard-wood floor--with such sad cacophony, it did crash to the floor.

(My son plays cello--he is amazing)!
