Whilst some (actually, make that a lot) of his later novels definitely suffer from being overly long, I have to agree with @Rodders on this - for the reasons he gives.

Ditto with the thoughts on IT.
But The Stand original version was far superior to the bloated and indulgent "author's version" that was published years later

I found It to be a very uneven read. But overall a good book

The Stand was the very first apocalyptic novel I ever read and was first Aepten King Novel Id read. When he brought out the Nee Version I thought about getting it but decide against it. Since i'ts same book only with extended scenes .
