I figure it won't be too long before the first teaser trailer comes up for this, so best if we have a pre-screening discussion thread for this film. :)

So far, most details seems to be on Wikipedia: Solo: A Star Wars Story - Wikipedia

Interesting to see that John Powell is doing the music, as he did a fantastic job on How to Train Your Dragon. :)

In the meantime, interested rather than eager to see what they come up with for this - especially as they shouldn't have to force too much of a plot connection with existing Star Wars films. I hope. :)

EDIT: I knew it would be coming soon - here's the TV spot teaser:

EDIT 2: And the full teaser:

At first I was not interested in this movie, but now I have become excited, especially since Ron Howard took over. I have a wish list of things to see, but I'll be okay with just about anything.

Personally looking forward to seeing this one. As impressed as I was with Rogue One, it's a brave decision to recast such a well loved character and actor. I'm hoping that it does well and we all love Alden as Han Solo. (Who knows, maybe it'll generate a series of movies if successful enough.)

I'm a Millennium Falcon focus collector, so seeing how the Falcon changes from the new (old) design to the one we know and love.

It should be interesting to see how Solo and Chewie hook up. I expect there was some mutual dislike in the beginning. There is bound to be some cheesy comedy in here somewhere.

Just saw the teaser. It really was a teaser, next to no content. But off the bat, I think I like it better than Rogue One already. And I trust Ron Howard even though I'm still not sure why they're making this in the first place.... *rant over*

Thanks for posting, Brian.

Got to say that i was quite excited by that clip and will definitely be looking forward to the full teaser. It looks like it's going to delve quite deeply into the underground part of the Star Wars universe. Great!!

Does this mean that the Prequel trilogy has been relegated to "Legends" status?

Sigh! Give me Rogue One! This just looks like a rerun of the charming pirate in outer space type movie. I hope I'm wrong, but the tease makes me think the story is simply one about a group of people with shaky morals and no real purpose in life other than getting rich.

Sign me up under the wasn't-interested-but-now-I-am camp. I was expecting some slapstick goofiness but this seems a little darker. Things I like or noticed:

1) The Lovecraftian tennacles in what I assume is the Kessel Run
2) The train 'heist' (?)
3) The brand new falcon corridor
4) A game of Sabaac...
5) The TIE and the SD in the nebula
6) Young Chewie with 2 bandoliers

Not so keen on:

1) Lando's teeth; that smile looks nothing like BDW's
2) Emelia Clarke. in fact, if they could put it off another year and replace with someone who can act, I'd be happy with that. She is dreadful (not just in this, I mean, but as an actress) but I do like her get up.
3) The Logo... it needs a bit of pizzazz or at least a bit of 3D rendering. So cheap.

Definitely not. Why's that? I didn't see anything in here that would contradict the PT.

I'm kind of excited, but not terribly so. Looks quite different to all the other Star Wars movies in tone and aesthetic, so that's a big plus in my book. But I kinda wish they'd done it with a new character. I hope the kid knocks it out of the park, but - and I know this is based on the smallest of sample sizes - he ain't look like Han Solo, he ain't sound like Han Solo (the 'It's fine, we're fine' line in particular made me cringe), he ain't act like Han Solo. I wasn't expecting Ewan MacGregor/Alec Guinness levels of imitation (given the age gap here is much less forgiving) but I think you've gotta hit on at least one of those three. I fear I'm just going be hung up on that all film. I'll try to push past it.

Just go in expecting action and a ropey story and it will be fine.
Reminds me of the Star Trek film with the main character being rebellious in his youth.

Definitely not. Why's that? I didn't see anything in here that would contradict the PT.
I guess the question is, if this is young Chewie meeting young Han, then who was the fully grown Chewie helping Yoda on Kassyk durin the Clone Wars? In AoTC or RoTS I can't remember now?

Edit. On reflection, maybe you can't really tell the age of a wookie lol.

The official trailer is even better. OK Disney, you may get me to the theaters again. In fact I think this trailer looks better than EP 7 and 8 combined. Maybe cause I've been dying for them to branch out to other plots instead of the Skywalker lineage. Even if, it is only Han Solo, but maybe that's the point. (also big Chewie plot lines.) In order to get farther away from Skywalker, you can't leap, you have to step lightly.
