Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)

I think that i looks like it could be a lot of fun. Just what a Star Wars movie should be.

But is there a story? Is there anyone with a moral backbone? Is there anyone on the side of law and order? Is there anyone to root for? --- It doesn't really look like any of those questions is yes by the trailer.

Well if the Empire is evil, do we not consider anyone opposing them to be the good guys?

There are a number of shots based around some form of "train" which raise initial concerns. For a start, in a universe where even a poor farm boy can afford anti-gravity transport, the idea of something like a "train" seems oddly anachronistic.

Also, in the same shots are Stormtroopers in extra large suits - and fur coats. Which begs the question of why the suits don't provide internal heating and insulation, making the furs seems like a visual gimmick rather than part of internal consistency (did Snowtroopers on Hoth wear furs?).

Hopefully I'm wrong about both, but the scripting on the latest Star Wars films has often seem rushed and ill-thought out. I don't sense much appetite for even more of the same at the moment.

To be fair Brian, it's only the sequel trilogy that's been weak.

Rogue One was very good, i thought.

Parson, it’s Haaaaaaan!!! Who needs more?? ;)

Me .... Han was always most least favorite major character especially because I saw him shoot first.

My thought was very similar. I thought "that train scene is in there because it makes good camera fodder" but what you say is right on! That's why it seemed so out of place!

The film looks more charming than the mess I was expecting. What has been painful for me with all of the films after RoTJ has been inability to actually stick to the stated and implied continuity of the original films - even though they remain the superior films.

In terms of Han's moral compass - he's always been a principled criminal. The back story about saving Chewie from slavers has been around since the '70s. Killing Gredo preemptively? The whole cast of characters are a bunch of stone cold killers - we never hear Luke or Ben kvetching about the Storm Troopers they presumably strangled and hid in the hold of the Falcon to get their Death Star disguises.

1000% yes to every bit of that!
the last film was just a cluster*#$% of crappy divergent story lines ...i seriously wish they can fix it in next film.prolly hoping for too much. "kvetching"....love it(y)

Am I living in an alternate universe??

Most of you seem to be looking forward to this movie!!

I'm on social media multiple times a day - and have seen nothing about this movie!

Where's all the complaining? The bitching and moaning??

This just doesn't seem right...

Perhaps it's the lack of press? I only saw the first commercial two days ago!

*looks outside to see I the stars are right*

Chewy's 190 years old in this movie??

Wow.

They're projecting big a box office for this one. Lets see, Disney paid 4 billion for the the Star Wars franchise . It's proving to be to be a very good investment for Disney.

Look I know it has big shoes to fill- any movie that has Star Wars In title will forever be held to a standard that many won’t meet...but Star Wars was the first movie I saw in a theatre and is still an epic moment/time of my childhood that also molded, to an extent my love of sf/f. so yea even if it has the chance to suck and I might bitch after, I’m still excited and will see it

Ah yes, there is that. I had been watching movies for a time before (yes, I'm older than dirt.) but Star Wars was like a breath of fresh air. An understandable story. (at that time almost non-existent) Heroes!!!! worthy of the name. (Not some seriously flawed anti-hero you wouldn't want as a friend or trust with anything you valued.) A nod toward something beyond science, without going into dragons and enchanted swords or the like. Every other star wars movie since the original has suffered very seriously in my comparison. They have lost their innocence, and became rather less delectable shades of gray.
