Terminator is never going to happen

The directors. producers and writers don't know what to do with the concept of skynet.

I've always wanted to see one where the last screaming human has been terminated and then show what Skynet does with the planet.

If it starts calling in it's Hunter killers, for melting down and turning into dozers to remove rubble, will there be a revolt and a proper Machine War?

... although of course since different signals from different senses reach the brain at different times, it would be very surprising if "thought" was perceived at the same time as the signals.

Cause precedes effect. If your thought 'I'll raise my arm now' happens after you sent a signal to your arm to raise it, the signal was the cause of the thought, the thought wasn't the cause of the signal.

My computer told me it was still working the other day and put a timer up to help notify me when it was finished.
it also says hello sometimes.

I don't know how it does these things but someone told me that if I were a programmer It would make sense.

While we don't know ( not my words) how to make a computer think. I can only assume that's because we do not truly know a computer yet. For when does a computer become a finite?

Whilst viewing me in the future my (unless free from slavery) computer may feel I'm a bit slow, I may ask my computer to slow down a bit, let me catch up with it's thinking. I'm saving my egg timer and morning greetings for then.

Quality = Zen and the Art of Motorbike Mechanics by Robert M Persig leading to the metaphysics of quality! and Lila ( the sequel).
Both great books that speak of something very difficult to programme. Or not maybe?

This similarly presumes an exact equivalence of two things.
See also Nicholas Humphrey's "thick moment" work.

Well, Justin, you'n'me are never going to agree on the matter, so... maybe the best thing is refer you to my Factory Girl.

I think you might have given me a link to it before but I'm not sure where to find it....can you give it again?

How about a precis here for the interests of discussion? I promise to remain polite and civilised. ;)
