Hello again,
So this time round I'm stuck with trying to figure out what would be a good/cool/badass yet authentic name for a group of elite soldiers in a sci-fi setting. I've been playing around with some ideas but some of the best ones I already have in use like Sentry, Praetorian, Wardens, etc. I was thinking off abbreviations as well like A.R.C (Advanced.Reinforcement.Combatant) but I did think that example worked well enough.

The soldiers are:
  • Human
  • Have advanced special training for elite operations
  • They are faster, tougher and more agile than standard or even special forces units (they are practically "super soldiers")
Does anyone have any good ideas for what I should call them?

I'd say to make the name something contextually relevant, but not directly related to their militaristic role (a seal isn't a particularly tough acquatic animal, but Navy SEALs is a good name--and it does double duty because it's actually an acronym, so it's a pretty awesome name. Green berets aren't particularly dangerous headwear (bandanas are more risque, no? :D), but it just works. Pick an animal or part of a piece of equipment your unit is somehow related to, or an event that shaped the unit. Don't make it obvious. Make it organic, even if it sounds too casual. Nicknames for these kind of things are all about context, IMO: the Black Capes, the Ivy Daggers, The Stompers, the 76ers (lol) etc.

Thanks for the advice. However, the only thing I have different is that its future tech suits...in the past like long, long ago. Like ancient war in space etc, so there's no modern gear, no berets just techie suits with some sort of advanced combat armour. But I see what you mean.

Or you could go back in history: The Immortals, the Janissaries, the Sacred Band, the Extraordinarii, the Kheshig...

If these are the elite of the elite, then how about
"T.S.F." -The Silent Few-
"T.G.B." - The Ghost Brigade -
" S.O.G." - Special Operations Group -

See I like that and it gave me the idea of:
  • N.E.O's - Neurologically Enhanced Operators
  • N.E.S.F.O's - Neurologically Enhanced Special Forces Operators
  • N.E.S.B.O's - Neurologically Enhanced Special Branch Operators
Then, there could be specialized troop designations with the special branch, such as:

  • N.E.O-(W) - Wetworks
  • N.E.O-(CE) - Combat Engineer
  • N.E.O-(A) - Assault
  • N.EO-(AA) - Air Assault
  • N.E.O-(C) - Commandos
  • N.E.O-(M) - Medic
  • N.E.O-(HWS) - Heavy Weapons Specialist
And more...

E.S.F - Enhanced Special Forces
or
E.S.B - Enhanced Special Branch

Is less of a mouthful plus it allows for either physical or neurological upgrades or both.
Also "Wetwork" is Milspeak slang for assassination's so that should be N.E.O.(A)

Well, this isn't modern humans, they are ancient humans, so modern terminologies don't have to be actual or even applied. I used Wetworks because "A" was taking for Assault. N.E.O also sounds better when used as a an actual word, Neo rather than ESB or ESF, sorry...

Are they all blond haired and blue eyed?

The soldiers are:
  • Human
  • Have advanced special training for elite operations
  • They are faster, tougher and more agile than standard or even special forces units (they are practically "super soldiers")
Does anyone have any good ideas for what I should call them?

Your could just call them the SS--Seriously.

Are they from Earth or know of the planet? If so, from our future or an unknown past?
