May 100 Word Anon Challenge Discussion Thread

For those unfamiliar with the 100, part of the challenge is to try and guess who wrote what. A list of authors follows. In order to avoid the problem if including yourself in the guessing a red herring is included - an author who didn't submit.

Below is the list of authors, in alphabetical order, including the red herring.

Ashleyne
Cathbad
D3athW4alker
chrispenycate
dannymcg
Heijan Xavier
jackwinabox57
johnnyjet
Joshua Jones
M Robert Gibson
mosaix
Onyx
Star Beast
Sum Dude
Victoria Silverwolf

This was a great selection of stories which really did make choosing just one to vote for extremely difficult. There were three stand outs for me but felt "A Tale of Two Worlds" ticked all my boxes. Great blend of both genres and used the theme to fantastic effect.

Well done to all involved though, great challenge! Big thanks to @mosaix for doing such a great job of hosting!

Also, while I really enjoy guessing games, being so new to the site I really have no idea about individual styles etc. so... at the risk of offending anyone, here's my guesses:

@Ashleyne - Wave of Equality
@Cathbad - Let's All Drown
@chrispenycate - Heaven Blue
@dannymcg - My First Command
@Heijan Xavier - Red Dwarf: Echoic Effect
@jackwinabox57 - In the Beginning...
@johnnyjet - Day Storm
@Joshua Jones - A Tale of Two Worlds
@M. Robert Gibson - Medium Wove
@mosaix - To Be Borne, Like Thy Bubbles, Onward
@Onyx - Here and There
@Starbeast - Goodbye my love
@Sum Dude - The Girl With No Face
@Victoria Silverwolf - Sea Wrack

D3ath, you go 2 right. Not bad for a first attempt.

I voted for To Be Borne, Like Thy Bubbles, Onward, which I think was written by our reviewer, @Victoria Silverwolf. She frequently writes of fantastical creatures, and is exceptional at showing their attributes through subtle hints in the story, rather than try to give an image of the creature from the outset. My only hesitation is that she tends to post early, but I think it is hers.

For my complete guess, which may be populated with complete guesses:

Ashleyne - Heaven Blue
Cathbad - Red Dwarf: Echoing Effect
D3athW4alker - In the Beginning
chrispenycate - Day Storm
dannymcg - Let's All Drown
Heijan Xavier - The Girl With No Face
jackwinabox57 - Here and There
johnnyjet - Goodbye, My Love
M Robert Gibson - Sea Wreak
mosaix - Medium Wove
Onyx - Wave of Equality
Star Beast - A Tale of Two Worlds
Sum Dude - My First Command
Victoria Silverwolf - To Be Borne, Like Thy Bubbles, Onward

Hi, short on time, later I will read all the stories again to get all the enjoyment I usually do. My vote goes to Goodbye My Love. It works and I hope their molecules join together in space and exist happily everafter. Later.

Not really been around much this month to contribute but I have voted and gone for My First Command... it made me reminisce somewhat.

I really enjoyed reading the stories this Challenge. I loved how diverse the entries were, and thought there was terrific imagination on display from first to last, so congratulations all! (Though I thought that red herring was a bit of a slacker!)

Here's my shortlist, and vote:

Sea Wrack
Day Storm *VOTE*

A Tale of Two Worlds
The Girl With No Face

Loved all these, but I really dug the surprise ending of Day Storm. Looks like a close race, so good luck to all in the voting, CC

ps - thank you, mosaix, for adding that 'Change Vote' feature!!!! I voted incorrectly the first time, but I've just fixed things. Apologies to the author of A Tale of Two Worlds (in case you may have noticed that phantom vote), for ripping the vote away from your fine story. :(

I voted for Red Dwarf: Echoing Effect, which I believe to've been written by Starbeast. I'm going for a 100% correct guess rate.

*Starbeast's best friend, a talking palomino begins to panic* "Starbeast! Ashleyne is on to you. Pack your bags, buy a plane ticket, take a cab, catch a bus, get into your star ship and fly to the next GALAXY!!! Oh look. I can see myself in the water."
