Fantasy novel out this December!

@Bick : I will do. I'm looking into this very seriously but unfortunately it's not a great time of year for asking people things! I do hope to have some thoughts on this within the week though, and I'll get back to you on it then. Thanks!

Now I have to finish two other Chrons authors’ books and get this when you do a paperback. (E-readers I’ve tried have given me unpleasant side effects so I’d rather wait if that’s okay.)

You had me at the word ‘Renaissance’. Sounds great. It’ll be the first thing if yours I’ve read so I’m looking forward to it.

Good times!

Well, I'm out of the Self-Published Fantasy Blog Off for this year. But the review I got was very good, and being mentioned in the same breath as Joe Abercrombie isn't bad, really. My bit starts at 16.35 or so in the video below, but all of the reviews are good quality and worth a look. I think I'll give it another go next year.

Toby, Kitty did mine last year. She gets all the best authors ;)

Anyone wanting to participate really needs to keep their eyes peeled. This year's entry list filled up in a day or two.

In think they were trying a different approach with the artwork at that time, moving away from both medieval European styles and the chainmail-underpants 1970s approach. It doesn't look particularly based on any real-world styles: a friend refers to it as "the age of buckles". Anyway, I wrote a blog post about this picture and why it was an influence: Woman With A Lockpick.

Here's a review I got from Novel Notions. It's definitely positive, although it's interesting to see what wasn't liked as well as what was felt to work. I think it's a good and fair review overall.
