New 'Star Wars: The Mandalorian' Reports Claim Hero's Costume Evolves Throughout the SeriesIn the world of Star Wars, Mandalorians are immediately recognizable based on their signature armor. A new report regarding the upcoming TV series Star Wars: The Mandalorian claims that, over the course of the initial season's eight episodes, the main character's outfit will evolve to accommodate improvements.
Making Star Wars claimed they had a source close to the production who revealed, "Supposedly there is a secret enclave of Mandalorians our hero is affiliated with. It is in this enclave that an armorer resides. It appears this woman is the key to his major upgrades."
The first Mandalorian Star Wars fans met was Boba Fett in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, with various novels and comic books exploring many legends surrounding the character. These stories were relegated non-canonical when Disney purchased Lucasfilm, with Boba's story being replaced with what we saw in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones.
Luckily, throughout various stories and animated series, audiences have a much better idea about the history of the Mandalorian people and, notably, their tendency to stick together. The Mandalorian takes place after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, so the concept of Mandalorians sticking together across the entire galaxy falls in line with their canonical culture.
After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.
While depictions of Jango and Boba Fett in live-action films have given an intimidating perception of Mandalorians, their appearances also demonstrate that their equipment is often faulty. Both bounty hunters have met their makers based on malfunctioning jet packs, with the concept of an armorer making upgrades to their equipment in the series offering exciting opportunities to depict that, while intimidating, their armor could always use an improvement.
This new report could also confirm rumors about Stormtroopers and Death Troopers being spotted on set, as the destruction of the Galactic Empire could see former soldiers cashing in their armor to the highest bidder, including Mandalorians.
What era is this?
Well, that looks superb and I am excited for this now. (Although I could be in for a fairly long wait as I don't have any paid TV channels.)
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019...n-chaos-in-first-trailer-for-the-mandalorian/Fans went wild as Disney debuted the first trailer for its hotly anticipated original series, The Mandalorian, last night at D23, the annual fan extravaganza the studio has been organizing for the last several years. The series will be released in conjunction with the company's new streaming platform, Disney+, on November 12, 2019.
Starring Pedro Pascal (Oberyn Martell, aka the Red Viper, in Game of Thrones) as the Mandalorian, the series takes place a few years "after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order,'" according to the official synopsis. Pascal's bounty hunter is "a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy, far from the authority of the New Republic." Pascal delighted the assembled fans with a surprise appearance at D23, along with co-stars Gina Carano, who plays Cara Dune, a former Rebel Shock Trooper; Carl Weathers as Greef Carga, leader of a bounty-hunter guild; Giancarlo Esposito; and Taika Waititi, who voices the droid IG-11. Ming-Na Wen (Agents of Shield) has also been cast in the series.
Fans of Star Wars: The Mandalorian still have several months to wait before the show returns for its second season on Disney+ in October, but it sounds like the upcoming season will be well worth the wait. Darth Maul voice actor Sam Witwer recently told Star Was Holocron that the second season of the popular live-action series isn't just going to be good. Witwer says it will blow fans' minds thanks to executive producer Dave Filoni having the same instincts as Star Wars creator George Lucas.
In the interview, Witwer, who voices Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, explained that there are things coming in Season 2 that fans will love.
"There are things that [Dave Filoni] has coming in The Mandalorian Season 2 that are going to blow people's minds," Witwer said. "Because the thing is that Dave and George always had the same instinct when it came to this."
Witwer went on to elaborate a bit about the shared instincts Filoni and Lucas share and offered an example.
"And what this is is that they would ask them, 'Okay, we need to tell a story about witches.' And then they'd sit there and say, 'Well do we have something like that in Star Wars? What about the Nightsisters of Dathomir. They're witches.' Yeah, okay, wait a second now, [George and Dave] go in and look at the designs and look at how it looks and go 'yeah that fits.' And Sometimes [George and Dave] would be like 'Oh that doesn't fit, we actually have to do this instead, right?'" Witwer said.
Witwer isn't alone in promising some big surprises in The Mandalorian's second season. Series star Pedro Pascal recently told Yahoo! that there are "pretty wonderful" things coming in the show's second season, though he didn't reveal anything specific about what those things are.
"They can expect me to not talk about it at all," Pascal said when asked what fans can expect about the show's second season. "Only so they can experience the second season in the same way they experienced the first -- that sort of awe and surprise. It's pretty wonderful."
"I don't want to say anything," Pascal continued. "I don’t even want to prepare you for surprises that may or may not be there. Let yourself be as empty a canvas as possible to just experience it."
But we gotta wait!!!! Really enjoyed this show, just wish it were more than 8 episodes!
It is a money problem.
Yep, each episode cost more than an episode of GOT
Wait a minute. Wait a minute, Jon. Ah... Are you telling me that you built a television show... out of a Mandalorian?
Seriously though, I remember the production value on the original Battlestar Galactica being extremely high for the time... and they shut the show down because it was soooo expensive.
