Spotting old books and magazines and dummy newspapers in TV, movies and old photos

And the Famous Fantastic Mysteries, on two separate shelves above:

The Astounding, beside the top Famous Fantastic Mysteries, has an Isaac Asimov story in it, part of the Foundation series. Originally published as Bridle and Saddle, it was retitled The Mayors, chapter three of Foundation.

I like this picture!

The War Atlas on the bottom right shelf is available on ebay for $20...

The title to the Edmond Hamilton story sounds like a million others but don't think I know that particular one.

The book in the foreground is a paperback of Frank G. Slaughter's A Touch of Glory:

Can't see the front cover, but this is probably it:

Okay - here's a bit of book non spotting: from Jess Franco's Vampyros Lesbos. First visit to the office of the good doctor Sewart there are some books on the front of his desk. "I wonder what they are?" I wondered. (Because the film was that interesting.)

In a subsequent visit there is a reverse angle from behind his desk (for no other reason than the director was bored of shooting from the same angle - because when the doctor then sits at own desk, he sits on the wrong side, the side where visitors and guests would normally be seated. )

During the setup of the new angle someone thoughtfully swapped the books round so we couldn't read the spines and thus distract us into wondering why someone who runs a nuthouse would have volumes of The Chicken Farmer's Almanac and Walruses of the World (or whatever these books actually are) on his desk rather than some learned tomes on psychology.

We’ve seen that “Prepaid Taxes” headline several times, haven’t we? This is from a 4th-season Fugitive teleplay, “There Goes the Ball Game.”
