DISCUSSION -- OCTOBER 2019 300-word Writing Challenge (#35)

I didn't have to look it up, and I don't think I'm very posh.

Hey I have a degree in theatre and call it in front of the stage :D

So do my kids. I tend to get them to devise site-specific promenade pieces as it frees them up creatively and is more immersive for the audience. When I mark their logbooks and journals I scream inside when they refer to 'normal stages' :D :D

Oh, arse. Forgot to schedule the October 300. Okay, make that nine pieces of flash to write in the next week, then. :D

Just write. Never stop. Have fun.

That's what the late, great Ray Bradbury told me. Stay awesome Rafellin.

@AlexH - Nice picture. A rundown theater. I like it.

I've been focusing too much on the 75, and not getting anywhere. So when I glimpse at the 300 photo, I keep thinking of the same idea for a story. However, I think others may be thinking what I'm thinking. I suppose I'll find out on the 10th.

I do understand that the 300 photo is for inspiration, but I keep imagining the same idea for a tale.

Break all the rules and have them subtly linked ;)

Well, what if they did? It would be fun to see how each of us would approaches the same idea.

Except breaking this particular rule could result in both stories being pulled, unless any link is subtle enough that the stories don't appear to be the same, or the stories are posted in the right order and at the right time.

Just to remind everyone, the rules state:

Since one of the demanding aspects of the 75-word Challenge is to create a story which is readily comprehensible in so few words, entries for those Challenges may not re-use a story which has previously appeared in a 300-word Challenge. Entries for the 300-word Challenges may re-use stories wherever first appearing, but only when voting in any previous Challenge has finished.

So if anyone is minded to have the same story appear in a 75 and a 300 worder, then the 75 has to be posted first and voting in that Challenge finished with before the 300 can be posted. That way, any apparent explanation given by the expanded story in the 300 can't affect understanding of and voting in the 75s.

 I was in no way encouraging @Starbeast . My unsubtle use of ;) should attest to my innocence, Your Honour.

*considers the plea of Not Guilty by the defendant and looks longingly at her black cap . . . but sentences the miscreant to the sandwich mines instead, since the Staff Room is short of cheese and pickle sarnies at the moment* ;) :p

Tugs forelock, mutters 'Gawd bless ya, Your Honour. Let none utter that yer not a fair and honest guvna.'
Pockets gavel whilst backpeddling and bobbing bows on the way out, wringing flat cap to chest.

My idea for the 300 is totally different from the two stories I wrote for the 75, for this October. I meant to say that the 300 Photo makes me think of only one thing so far, and I'm guessing that others may think the same.

However, a few challenges ago, I did think about having a part one in the 75, then a part two for a 300. But that would only work if both challenges were similar. Normally, I like to do something different for each challenge.

Well, what if they did? It would be fun to see how each of us would approaches the same idea.

That's true. I've seen that happen with a few stories from others through the monthly challenges. Coincidental ideas can happen. It happened to me a couple of times. I either went with it, or I had a backup story.

Overall, I just try to have fun with the challenge. The 300 is unique, because a person can go anywhere with their imagination.

Same here and I hope no one else has had the same thing pop into their head.

Although, it could be quite funny if they have :p

@Luiglin - It would be funny. Like Elckerlyc said, even if we're similar in our tales, so what.

If I can't think of anything else by the final week, I'll stick with my original idea.

@Elckerlyc - Thanks.
