Ebook sellers (not Amazon)

I tried it once with a Google book but it never showed up on my Kindle.
The problem with emailing your books to your kindle-account is that your Kindle-device than labels it as 'Document', not as 'Book.'
I will PM you (or anyone interested) on how to get Kindle-books on any other device.

@Elckerlyc - Thanks, but shouldn't it be other book sellers that need to be converted to Kindle format? I always pay for my books, just to point out I do not condone piracy, it's just some books not available on Amazon are available on Google books or other stores. I have been wanting to read the Death Gate Cycle for a long time but only book 7 is available, the rest are copy protected. I let Margaret Weis's PA know and she said she will contact the publisher. I thought I could try B&N or Google etc. coz they will still get their payment.

Ah, I misunderstood. Apologies.
Removing DRM has imho little to do with piracy. DRM is a hindrance to where and how I want to read the books I paid for.
I have no experience with removing DRM from other sources than Amazon. But converting DRM-free content to AZW format should pose no problem with Calibre.,

I've noticed this, but are there any practical consequences?
Practical? Yes, insofar my Kindle treat documents different than books. If I sort books by author, I get only Amazon books, not the 'documents' I uploaded.
But mostly it annoys me not a little. Apparently non-amazon books are not books. Much the same as Microsoft when installing Windows. If you already had Linux installed it will be overwritten.

I think "apprenticealf wordpress" is the main one people use with it. Just google those :)

The problem with Apprentice Alf is that it seems to work for Kindle keyboards only, I went there for my new Paperwhite but nothing worked for me

And I was just pointed to another publisher selling direct to the public.
All prices in dollars, so don't know if you can buy in the UK but going to try pre-ordering the next Ursula Vernon and finding out.
