Discussion Thread -- OCTOBER 2020 -- 300 Word Writing Challenge (#39)

Ok, top 3 for me and, without giving away any spoilers, the votes :)

@Provincial - a verse it appears, can work wonders in your ears, without moving you to tears, even whilst buying souvenirs.
@Danny McG - Now, I must admit to; a soft spot for a haiku; I'm funny that way
@jd73 - Reminds me a certain dying replicant's monologue

Crikey! Unable to believe that a second person had voted for Bo-T, I checked the poll and found that it had three votes! This isn’t going to happen again, so I’m going to revel in it. Yay! Woop-woop-woop! Aroooooooooba!!!:ROFLMAO:

@The Big Peat, thank you for your stealth vote. Brilliant! :love:

My short list with votes marked by *.

* @Ashleyne - CAP’N PATCHBEARD’S NON-EXISTANT SHIP
@paranoid marvin - A Sailor's Story
@Victoria Silverwolf - Storm Warnings
@Marvin - Post Apocalyptic Wonderland
@mosaix - Just Beneath The Surface…
* @Peter V - Fruits de Mer
* @The Judge - A Djinn’s Lament

I liked Peter V Fruits de Mer story the most, hard to say why, because the rest of the stories they all were great, stirrup emotions or put the brain wheels in motion.
I liked Ashleyene CAP’N PATCHBEARD’S NON-EXISTANT SHIP story for the plot twist, i was expecting some sort of ghosts.
I was very surprised by The Judge A Djinn’s Lament story, not only by the end plot twist, but by the whole text construction, the build of expectation and the ending with a perfectly acceptable explanation.

Ouch. That was a good picture - lots and lots of choice. Far too many really good stories, that shouldn't have been left without votes. I managed to cut my short list down to: Cat's Cradle, mosaix, Peter V, The Judge, Ursa major, and Victoria Silverwolf, with votes for Capricorn42,Perpetual Man & The Judge, . Hm, good selection of non participants in the writing segments have already voted in that part of the process thank you, ,JadeW, nixie, sule and wagtail, but I'm surprised at the three who've produced one vote of the three they were allowed.

Many thanks Victoria for the vote.

For the moment, I really dislike the internet. Anyway.....

I voted

Thank you for the reviews

Thank you for the mentions

I knew Peat would have one of my votes, and the last two kept changing. In the end I went for the ones that created the strongest emotional response in me on the second read.

I prefer to thank anyone who has voted or shortlisted me at the end of the cycle, but in this case, I feel rude not acknowledging, so I'd like to thank for the shortlists, and the votes from nixie, Marvin, Peat, BT Jones, Sule, Provincial, Wayne Mack, Wagtail and jd73.

Close, wonder who will get the bridesmaid dress @Phyrebrat or @The Judge ?
Hold on! I still think I could be a factor here!! (Joking - zero votes, how depressing, *sigh*. Back to the drawing board.)

Any-who, so many entries I could have voted for in this Challenge. I think we did a great job with @Mister_Oy's fine photo.

After several read-throughs, here are my lists:

Honorables:
paranoid marvin, Perpetual Man, jd73, chrispenycate, Ursa major

Shortlist:
Wayne Mack, Phyrebrat, The Big Peat, Jo Zebedee

Votes:
Victoria Silverwolf, PeterV, The Judge

These are ones I would love to have written. Amazing stories, all three.

Huge thanks to the following for the lovely listings: @BT Jones, @chrispenycate, @Phyrebrat.

Finally, and as always, thanks very much, Victoria Silverwolf and Parson for the fine reviews. :)

edit to add: I voted several days ago, so the rankings will not be changed today because of me.
