Great SCIENCE FICTION Authors who are still alive?

Allen Steele. I really enjoyed his Coyote books.

Another one for Vernor Vinge.
David Brin
Lois McMaster Bujold - she has semi-retired AND she's won several Hugos....

Her semi-retirement has been more prolific than some authors who are supposedly writing full time.

In addition to many of those mentioned above I'd also add Ian McDonald.

Didn't Jack Williamson live to 98?

Yes he did.

One of the best writers of all time. He came up the terms Genetic Engineering and Terraforming.

Opps , I just noticed posted three times in a row rather than in one post. Sorry.:confused:

With a new member, that would be 'post-padding' Baylor, but you're part of the furniture, so I'm sure no one will mind! And I posted here purely to comment on you posting, and that's doubtless worse, so now you're definitely off the hook. ;)

This is gradually (and sadly) morphing into the Which Great SF Writers Have Just Slipped Off the Mortal Coil? thread.
