Short Stories That Would've Made Great Twilight Zone Episodes

The 1986 Twilit zone series produced a lot of really good episodes and segments

Paladin of the Lost Hour based on a short story by Harlan Ellison . The eps die stared Danny Kaye in the lead role . Wonderful and sad story.
Profile in Sliver which stated Andrew Robinson and Lane Smith in what happen if a time traveler interfered in history and saved JFK Kennedy. (its YouTube)
I of Newton based on a story by Joe Haldeman staring Sherman Helmsley and Ron Glass . This segment is Eight minutes long and one the funnies Twilight Zone segment of time. Ive rewatched lots of time . its that good and that funny ! :ROFLMAO:

Mefisto in Onyx by Harlan Ellison would make a spectacular Twilight Zone episode.

"The Trouble With Water" by H.L. Gold
"The Little Terror/Oogledeboo" by William F. Jenkins (Murray Leinster)

The Outer Limits was good too.
OL TOS was okay, imo, but I think it hinged too much on aliens, monsters, and robots. I think I prefer the reboot because it has more variety.

@BAYLOR I've recently watched an episode, one involving a special tomb with an alarm and a death mask. You might also like a show called 'Way Out. It was a bit of a companion show to TZ and was hosted by Roald Dahl. It was cancelled because it was deemed too scary for kids. You can find some episodes on YouTube.

"The Mirror and Mr. Sneeves" by Herbert Gold
"Don't Look Now" by Henry Kuttner and C.L. Moore
"Happy Ending" by Henry Kuttner

"Author! Author!" by Isaac Asimov
"The Tunnel Ahead" by Alice Glaser
"The Statue" by Mari Wolf
"The Dead Man" by Jorge Luis Borges

The Monkey's Paw, but I'm assuming that one of the episodes must surely have covered the theme in some way?

It would have made a very good Twilight Zone episode. I seem to recall that there was a faithful up tv adaptation of this one , A Buffy the Vampire Slayer episode with gave a nod to the Monkey's Paw and one of the segments to a Simpson Tree House of Horrors episode did a parody of it. :)

It was adapted with a few changes for The Alfred Hitchcock Hour.

Two perfect stories are "The Other Celia" & "The Professor's Teddybear" both by Theodore Sturgeon, both of which I have mentioned before, but they both have elements of the weird in them especially the latter, the Celia story does contain nudity which is actually essential to the plot so I don't know how this would be handled.
Two others which I've also mentioned before are "The Emissary" and "Zero Hour" both by Ray Bradbury with nice little twists at the end.
