And thank you for letting me know, @Jo Zebedee. :)

Congratulations @Brian G Turner !! That’s an outstanding performance. Hope you’re top of the three!!

(I know the judges had a lot to read but I found much of the comments for elimination vague and unhelpful — also some questionable choices on personal taste re content. They need to come and participate in our 75 and 300 challenge to get used to voting outside of their usual predilections.)

I’m still waiting to hear from the pool that has IC I think, so I’ll just quietly chew my knuckles :D

Exactly what I thought about the fantasy version!

And huge congrats to @Brian G Turner who has made it into the next round - one of our of 30 books from the Boundary’s Edge team.

Just seeing this now - sorry Biskit. Do you have any reviews that indicate this is a problem or critiques here?
Skimming through my meagre amazon reviews, I've got
"A Great Science Fantasy Romp For Adults Only"
"The space opera has never been so wickedly wild..."

and then the bizzare
"It's a constantly brought up and super annoying thing" - which gave me 4 stars but went with his main criticism in the title

On Goodreads, it has an average 3.6/5 which is dragged down by a lone 1 star with a review that seemed to bear no relation to the book.

So, overall, it might not suit everyone, but I think it works.

It's a bit of a lottery, but if you do get lucky the publicity is useful.

My record so far:
"Hell of a Deal" : the first judge didn't like it because of the style/themes/humour, but gave it a 3-star review for being well written
"Streamrider" : the first judge... I have no idea, really, because the rejection comment is so vague.

Nice review - I'm grateful for it. :)

@Brian G Turner .... It is indeed a nice review. (Actually, I think you are underselling how good it is.) It is clear the reviewer has read your book and reflected on it. And he comes out in a very positive place indeed. I think the recognition is rightly deserved.

Well, apparently my Destroyer came 16th:

though I can only find three SPSFC reviews since I made the semi-finalists - I kind of presumed there might be a few more! :D
I thought semi-finalists were supposed to get a review from each of the judging teams.
