The Lord of the Rings - Second Age - Amazon Prime

Sauron was never an elf he was a Maiar, same as Gandalf and Saruman

Well the whole situation needs clarification. I just wonder what the ignorant going to say when they realise that Gandalf was basically a great spirit? I'm sorry for getting the detail wrong.

Was just half watching the news and they were doing a piece on the thriving film and TV industry here in the UK (in particular, Wolf Studios in Wales) and at the summary they mentioned new TV series, and I heard the announcer say something about a TV series of LOTR...
Anyone hear anything about this?

Due Sept 2022 on Amazon Prime
I'm sure I read somewhere that it was set to be the most expensive small screen show ever. At least $1 billion [and probably much more] over five years.
I don't think any footage has been released yet.

I would love to see a trailer.

Isn't it the series on the Silmarillion, focussing on the Akallabeth?

Thank you for posting but... Well, that was massively underwhelming...

First we had trailers: then we had teaser trailers: now we have title sequence teaser trailers. Next, scriptwriter's briefing meeting trailers? Concept meeting trailers?

I like that idea! Here is what you are NOT going to see...

Not only is it underwhelming but it leaves us just as ignorant of what the series is going to be like as we were before we saw it.

One can hope that the very next Trailer will be a far different story and have more to show.

I found the voice-over (a badly done mimic of Galadriel's voice in the LotR movies) trying to cast some ominous sauce over the trailer a downer. Even the score is reminiscent of the movies.
Peter Jackson may have set the standard when it comes to depicting Middle Earth, but if Amazon is going to try to copy that, I fear it might cause some serious indigestion.
