Looking for title of a film?

I watched a B&W US travelers-in-space movie in the mid-50s that scared the crap out of me. The astronauts happen upon a race of human-looking beings. I believe it was the "queen" that interacted with the astronauts. She was gorgeous, tall, slim and wearing a form fitting, glittery dress. During the course of the movie some of astronauts were all drawn to her attempting to kiss her. When they did, it rendered them a block of ice. At 5yo in the mid-50s it made an a lasting impression. Have never found the title of that movie. Anyone have an idea? Thanks.

Could it be Queen of Outer Space (1958)?

Ive seen that film , I doubt , The Queen in that movie wore a masque because her face got disfigured as. result of War fought with a world ruled. Godawful film.

I think I've confused it with another film. I remember a scene from a film where an Earthman stands on a stool to kiss a queen of Venus or something, but I don't recall anyone turning to ice. Maybe I saw Invasion of the Star Creatures. Frankly, it reminds me of that 80s music video for "Dolly Dagger" by Jimi Hendrix.

There was screen something like that in comedy film Abbott and Costello go to Mars 1953 .

The film that the Op is talking about is not ringing any bells though the description of the Queen Reminded eo the film the 1966 film Planet of Blood:unsure:

Ok - I can't remember any of the plot, just one scene from a film....

Late 1960s/early 1970s, a bunch of kids (maybe 7 or 8 year olds) playing in a schoolyard.

This guy comes along dressed very eccentric (jester or maybe like the childcatcher in Chitty...)

He walks into the schoolyard and puts a gaily wrapped and ribbon bedecked parcel down, then he waves his arms around and walks backwards away and out onto the street.

Dozens of curious kids crowd around this package, leaning over it.
He takes cover behind a building wall as the bomb explodes and then there's a close up of his smirk.

That scene haunts me, anybody recognise it?

Sure it was a film, Danny, and not an episode of a TV show?

Yes! That was it JM, cheers.

Hi all,

I have been trying to remember the name of a movie that I saw on Netflix a few years ago (it has now been taken down).
It was a British scifi movie. One sister is a scientist. The other works for the government. One day, black spots/orbs start appearing in the sky and as each day passes more appear. I think they start attacking them. They then send people through to them. In the end it turns out the black spots/aliens were protecting earth from a massive meteorite.

Was a really good and unexpected movie.

Maybe The Beyond.

Very faint memories of some old British film theme song, all I remember is this line

"go out and do a crime, to get yourself some time, in the nick"

Not sure if this is a film or TV, but I think film.

A friend recently read The Count of Monte Cristo, and it put me in mind of a scene I assumed was from the Richard Chamberlain version, but apparently it isn't.

In it, as I recall (at a distance of what is probably decades), the main character is incarcerated with a mad old man who has been in the dungeon for years, and has a pet rat or mouse. He refuses to escape along with the main character because he won't leave his pet (or he's happy where he is, or something).

Someone thought this might be from the Green Mile, but unless I'm conflating several things, it isn't. The dungeon in my memory is a medieval -style one accessed through a grille in the ceiling.

Something in my mind is giving off Blackadder or Monty Python vibes. I see the old man as being a bit like the ragged guy in the Monty Python TV show who says "It's..."

ETA: after ages trying to recall the pet rat's name, it came to me: Arthur. Which allowed Google to identify the character as "old prisoner" from the 1980s TV series Robin of Sherwood.

Haha, I was just about to post Robin of Sherwood. The prisoner is a constant 'guest' of the Sheriff, and his catchphrase was something along the lines of "Feet first!" suggesting that the only way out of the dungeon was when you were dead.

Obviously Robin and his chums escaped!

Oddly enough, though I think it was more the Robin of Sherwood one I was thinking of, it turns out there is a very similar case in S1 E6 of Blackadder, which I've just watched. Rik Mayall plays a mad ragged prisoner with a rodent friend "Mister Rat". He gives Edmund a key, but doesn't escape himself, telling Edmund to "Shut the door behind you".
