Firefly to return?

Continuing to derail the thread... @Parson I love you, but I agree with @Danny McG regarding The Fifth Element. On Christmas Eve, I love dressing up, dining out, going to a candle light service, and reading from St. Luke with the family.... but I also love putting on my oldest jeans and t-shirt and eating chips on the couch. Sometimes it's not about eternity, art, nor significance... sometimes it's just fun.

@pogopossum Bringing back Mal, Zoe, Inara, Jayne, Kaylee, Simon, River, Patience, the Operative, or YoSaffBridge in cameos would be most welcome, but I figure it needs to a new story. I like to think that Zoe was pregnant at the end of Serenity... she'd have a sixteen or seventeen year old child now. The show would need to find that magic spark of authenticity of speech and circumstance the original had. Social dynamics, religious tension, the ethics of economics, self-awareness, etc.

I'm with the doubters. I have been tricked before into getting excited about a reboot. As it's Disney - They can't really have Inara, or the thinly veiled curses (Hoo-tah, Gorram, etc). They'd better not try to imitate. I just don't see it working out. Sorry Disney it's not you, it's me.

I agree with the above post.

I loved Firefly. Not because of the plot, if there really was one. But because of the setting, the interaction of the characters, the plain, unadorned, functional design of Serenity. Nothing fancy or romanticized. It was all kind of things that is very much un-Disneylike. And why we loved it.

Perhaps in Disney version, they'll will do A Firefly the Musical episode?;):D

That would probably mean bring in Joss Whedon. And that could be a bit of a problem...

I'm going to FanFest in Portland Oregon this weekend. Will be getting getting photo's with Captain Mal. I'll be asking him what he grabbed off of the set and who ended up with his pistol.

You could also ask if anyone salvaged Wash's dinosaurs...

This trend of reviving old IP to push some new, unrelated, or tangentially related, story is getting ridiculous. Not even Scooby Doo is safe.
