DISCUSSION THREAD -- April 2022 -- 300 Word Writing Challenge #45

Thanks for the votes @Astro Pen & @redzwritez (plus the virtual vote from Her Majesty, @The Judge).
ARRGGHHHH! :( Grovelling apologies BTJ, Bren G and Le Panda!

I was rushed off my feet yesterday, getting the house ready for a friend coming to stay, and I know I entered my votes, because I had a sudden panic that I'd ticked the wrong box and was voting for myself. (Let's just say it had been a long day and I was running on empty by then. It's a minor miracle I was able to get my thoughts in any kind of order to get a long shortlist.) But after checking I obviously forget to hit the damn button to register the votes before logging off. *hits head on laptop*

Congratulations Victoria Silverwolf
@Victoria Silverwolf

Silver Medals @Christine Wheelwright & @Jo Zebedee

Bronze Medal @Teresa Edgerton

Plus a huge WELL DONE to all who entered!

My Story: When I stared at the photo, there was a familiar eeriness about the view of the metal statue. Suddenly the unearthly music from the film The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) came into my mind. "Yes!", I thought. "A scary robot from another world."

No apologies necessary. It's not as if I was tied for the lead or anything (which I was in a previous entry when someone else forgot to click the vote button for me pushing meaning there was a tie-break that I subsequently lost - but like the Murphy's, I'm not bitter!!!)

Super stuff @Victoria Silverwolf led from start to finish.

My heartfelt thanks goes to @chrispenycate for my precious vote and only mention.
Obviously no body else has such impeccable taste.

I would never be brave enough to post a story in the ’tear my story a new one’ or ‘improving our 300 word stories‘ as it’s also known. But I have been tempted, if only to confirm what I may have felt myself. In the case of this one, I just wrote from personal experience and set it in a future world. Probably came across just a bit boring and mundane.
My biggest challenge when writing these stories is dreaming up interesting ideas. Which is a bit of a problem given that’s the main crux of the challenge.

Oh well there is always the next one.
