Gay/LGBTQ2IA etc. Series or Stand Alone

I know a quite successful lady who writes gay romance, and she has said that much of it is read by women.

Ok, I've actually read some of Alexis Hall's novels (and I love Glitterland!) so I find this below quote from him really annoying and actually very hypocritical seeing as he writes from the POV of a lesbian woman in his Kate Kane Paranormal Investigator series. I'm not a fan of all this gate-keeping asshattery anyway - you can't write this POV because you're this POV blah blah crap. Nobody would write anything otherwise. Yuck.

Alexis Hall:
my resistance to that sub-category of m/m which is women appropriating gay male identity.

I'm not sure if it's been said yet but TJ Klune's The House In The Cerulean Sea is a good one. It was very, very popular when it came out (I think last year). It's fantasy but it's also a bit of a feel good book. There's a lovely setting and a lot of wholesomeness as well as at least two very central LGBTQ+ male characters.

I second TJ Klune! Also The Tarot Sequence by KD Edwards; third in the trilogy is out very soon so pretty much complete. I adore this series!!! And the author's website has a number of free short stories and vignettes in that world.

And yes to Amelia's Jack of Thorns and Em's work (which is never flowery!!!). And I really liked CL Polk's trilogy that starts with Witchmark. Polk is (I think) non-binary, and it's a great series though it shifts POV characters from book to book and only the first one is m/m.

I know you said you weren't interested in trans MCs, but I loved Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas (it's YA though), and the author has a new trilogy out this year that sounds fabulous (The Sunbearer Trials).

Thanks for the book recommendations and let's keep it that way, please - discussion about entitlement to write marginalized POV's are simply social-political discussions that go against the purpose of this thread, and against the rules of this community. :)

You know, when I stop to think about it,
A nice steamy romance between two guys would be interesting coupled with SF or Space Opera.

Just a thought…
I-I’m not gay, guys…
