Next up Let's Hear it for the Deaf Man. by Ed McBain (1973)
I tried this a few days ago for the first time, and didn't warm to it. So I'm watching the 1995 BBC series instead, which is wonderful.Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen - This is a change of pace for me, but I found it surprisingly enjoyable. I'm considering moving on to the Bronte sisters as well.
I've never read any of his belated sequels but what I have read has always been at least a bit more than readable.@Bick
I'm only into chapter 2 so he's still scene setting, I'm enjoying the pace etc so far, I'll do a mini review if it proves worthwhile and readable
I'd still put it second but it's been replaced by The Dragon in the Sea for me. I think you could easily make an argument for Hellstrom's as the more "novel-like" novel, though. Dragon probably should have been a novella, but I liked the clean style and character/plot simplicity with thematic complexity. From what I’ve read so far of Herbert’s non-Dune books, I think Hellstrom’s Hive is the standout.
Go for it! I've only read Emily's sole novel, but Wuthering Heights is impressive.I'm considering moving on to the Bronte sisters as well.
I’ve still to read this one. I’ll get back with my opinion…..one dayI'd still put it second but it's been replaced by The Dragon in the Sea
I have that on my wishlist, but I find I run a bit hot and cold with him. Some I love some...not quite so much, shall we say!Now it's Upgrade by Blake Crouch
This is enjoyable so far, now they've got a combat cyborg (with a German accent!) in their teamStrange Company by Nick Cole.
Basically space marine mercenaries who've been lab modified to have esp powers
Listened to a short story each by August Derlith,Ambrose Bierce, and Lord Dunsany. Weird.
Listening to Audio drama with a full cast of 2 Mike Hammer mysteries.
Which one?Currently James Ellroy.
