Haven’t been getting much time to read, at all.

Judge Dredd: Bad Moon Rising.

I finished Slow Motion Ghosts by Jeff Noon. It wasn't weird and psychedelic like previous books I had read at all. It's a straight-up serial murder, detective novel, albeit set in 1981, and concerning a deceased Glam Rock idol, and his childhood friends.

I am now between books.

Busy with a history/biography book: Tigress of Forli: The Life of Caterina Sforza by Elizabeth Lev. Interesting.

Just finished the novelisation of "Pan's Labyrinth," by Guillermo del Toro and Cornelia Funke. It was in the library- not something I ever expected to see, but it works pretty well as a novel!

I wonder if by "the Hobbit epic" they meant The Hobbit and LOTR combined?

As a kid I was utterly enthralled by The Mewlips, and the end of The Sea Bell still really moves me, but it doesn't surprise me to learn that it was rushed together. Although there was time for Pauline Baynes to do her usual marvellous work, so you'd have thought Tolkien would have a bit of time to work on his scansion?
I wonder if the verses included were things he'd written just for fun, to be circulated among the family? I can imagine being a bit torn about editing them up in that case! The one that stuck with me is "Errantry", which is like a fairy-tale version of the Lay of Earendil, and happens to include the word "dumbledor".

I'm reading a very short story
"'What I Did on My Holidays' By Sally Sparrow (written by Steven Moffet)

This is the original story that inspired the Dr Who episode "Blink"

It features a different (Eccleston) doctor and no weeping angels!
