Nancy Goodaim, Space Ranger

Just giving this a bump in-case anyone wants to give it a go.

Plot has the protagonist dying in an accident during the first crewed Mars mission. The story begins with her living in a fantasy world, with very little memory from her previous life. Things are not good with her family on Earth, and the kids find an unfinished novel. It describes the same fantasy world.
The kids get so engrossed in the story that they enter the alternate world. And, as writers will guess, have to save Nancy. They reveal they are her kids, she has a brief moment of full recall, and they say their goodbyes.
The thing is really more of about how humans get along, or fail to get along.

Up to Chapter 7 (of 56 -anyone following the Challenge or Workshop threads will prob know the score with the writing ...ie. non standard, which is why it's narrated;)

Nancy is now on Jupiter, and things are bimbling along for her and her friends/ acquaintances -have the installments linked in my profile.
The Irish writing website writing.ie just published an article on the story.
The article describes my experience of audio narration, which might be usefull to newbies like myself.

Up to Chapter 15 of Nancy Goodaim, Space Ranger -recorded with a Zoom H1n on the go as I didn't have time to sit down but I think it respects the listener enough to make it listenable ...based it on my favourite drunken conversation where someone tries to explain a deeply held conviction that ends up getting completely confused and muddled. Think there's something very human and funny about those chats.

Big ask, but if any Chronner has time it'd be a help to log onto a podcast platform (the story is on them all) and leave a review saying 'Listening to Nancy Goodaim is like ********'. Fill in the blank however you like -no need to listen to it, I think insulting works best for the algorithms but an obscure SF reference would be outta this world;) If you tag it here I'll stick your name in a competition I've been thinking of running: which is to get a published SF writer to vote for the best 'NG is like'.

Don't have a prize yet but it'll be something of probably little value, but cool (y)

NG 16 Puking, farting, bickering, Whistling Spontallagers and mortal peril....got a first legit review today 'listen to this show, it's hilarious'. I know ya just make stuff for the sake of making stuff, and it doesn't really matter if anyone else likes it or not. At the same time it does no harm to see it hit every now and then;)

Now, this would make an intriguing tv show :D
Ha, class -planning an all star audio drama final chapter for next Feb~ish to wind the thing up (so half of the TV experience;)
Meanwhile in outer space...
Chapter 17 out tomorrow night. A sexist Jupitarian wizard appears in simultaneous dreams, and inspires the Hobbilogranicker Defense League to forget their differences. The story is being written on a nine beat rhythm, so the 18th one returns to Earth.

Chapter 19 out now if anyone wants a go.
It's not traditional writing.
The storytelling is closer to audio drama than anything else.
If you fancy something different and unique to listen to then this is for you. There is no way AI could last the pace, and I've been told the twists and turns are funny and unexpected;) I've about five hours recorded so far and have broken it into 15min or so standalone chapters/ episodes.
In any case -something completely different (y)

Right. Chapter 20 of Nancy Goodaim, Space Ranger. The longest yet -so it's a hobbeldon flump of a Gleber. https://spotifyanchor-web.app.link/e/63HkgxRwFCb

Thanks to @The Judge and her opening line 'magic has a smell' from the August 75 worder, which got me in and out of this episode. An sets up some whiffy action in the future. I don't see it as copying as the plot is about as far removed from the author's work as it would be possible to get :ROFLMAO:
Anyways Episode 22
The story is back charting this month. Very hard to know what that means, if anything. But I'm any case I'm happy with the writing so that's as far as I can bring it.

Nancy Goodaim, Space Ranger - Chapter 26. Out tonight. A Geronimous Flomp, Habobolus Splines, Noob 11889/ Hari Seldon (fully on purpose nod to a classic;), the dragon Blardan, bags of sh*te, an intergalactic traverse, and tragedy (link below, or under 'Irish Science Fiction' anyplace online). The team at 'Madison on The Air' are kindly going to run a 1 min promo during their December episode, which was an unexpected and kind offer -it's 'out there' stuff, but imaginary universes would be boring places if they were all the same;)

Very proud to have a one min trailer for Nancy G running during the first intermission in Madison on the Air's Christmas episode 'Miracle on 24th Street' -the crew at MotA have been very supportive of NG, and offered it for free. To my mind the stuff they do is gold standard for audio drama, and the writer & actors are skilled professionals so it's an honour to be briefly playing in that league. Am also running a comp where the first person to yell a heckle with the date mentioned during the trailer at any of my standup/ live SF shows wins an Irish Sci Fi Robot Sonic Elvis shirt (they don't come any cooler than that) -probably suits nobody reading this but there it is.
Anyways, MotA's time travel version of 'Miracle on 24th Street' comes highly recommended ...don't worry, the Chron part only hurts for a minute;)

An Irish Science Fiction Outer Space Adventure ...Chapter 27 -happy with this, went a bit below standard towards the end of the thirty min episode but it's all DIY in a car with little or no time so the option for a rerun is not there. That said I have faith in the story. I think anyone can jump in and out at any stage, but for the hardcore SF folk it's written on a nine beat ...so: 1,9,18,27 to hit the plot notes ...they are subtle, unlike everything else in the tale;) Nancy Goodaim, Space Ranger - Chapter 27 by Irish Science Fiction

Win some SF Merchandise!
Ran this T-Shirt competition (plus a story from one of the 75 worders in the clip) ...there were no winners, such are my deadly social media skills, so it rolls over.
Be the first to yell the date when the Sannleika mission went belly up at a live gig -get a robot Elvis Irish Sci-Fi T Shirt.

Anyways, the story will be back in full swing by mid-January -for what it's worth it's been compared to the work of Flann O'Brien on a local podcast ...which will either put you off or make it seem worth a rattle: Nancy Goodaim, Space Ranger - Chapter 27 by Irish Science Fiction
(BTW, accidentally called Jay 'Bungalow' in the clip ...was concentrating on not cursing so apologies to the honourable SFFC Martians).
